One of my sister's won't watch Mel Gibson movies anymore, and my mom, though she was never a fan, won't watch Arnold Schwarzenegger movies ever again.

I don't actively refuse to watch movies/tv because of a specific actor, but maybe some people here do, and I was curious which actors they might be and why.

I'm on record as boycotting anything with Kevin Costner in it. Just because he's so laaaaame.

Tom Cruise, just cause he plays the same role in every movie. And its hard to believe that a little guy like him is such a badass lol

Not necessarily an actor but a director: Tyler Perry.

Same, I actively avoid any movie that he is in.

I was going to say the same thing, except about Nicholas Cage.

Yup

Ha, yeah, and he makes it easy since he prefixes everything he does with "Tyler Perry's...".

To this day I won't watch anything with Bill Cosby or Whoopi Goldberg in it because of their spearheading of the (albeit short-lived) boycott of Cincinnati after the riots in 2001.

+1.

Banned after Batman Forever, Joel Schumacher. Loved Falling Down...

Can't stand Michael Bay but have to watch his Transformer movies to watch a little piece of my childhood be shat upon.

I guess I can say I ban Mel Gibson movies. It's a shame, becuase there are a few I always loved, but I can't watch him and not think of his crazy-@ssness. It takes me out of the movie, and I'm distracted by watching a d-bag.

I can't say I actively boycott anyone's movies, but if a movie came out with Mel Gibson or Arnold, it's going to appeal to me a bit less than if it had had a different actor. I don't go to the movies that much anyway, so that little bit less appeal would probably translate into me not seeing their film. So more of a subconscious boycott.

Anything with John Travolta (pre Grease and Welcome Back Kotter) and Tom Cruise.

I'm not a fan of Terrence Howard; in 2001, he tried to murder his wife, yet for some reason Hollywood completely forgave him. I don't get Hollywood - how the hell does someone like Leno or Conan just sit with a guy like that, joshing it up???  I guess it runs in the family because his dad was also the Santa Line Slayer in Higbee's.

I did watch Iron Man grudgingly with him it, but was damn glad that Don Cheadle replaced him in the forgettable sequel.

I've been let down so many times since the sixth sense. I can't take it anymore!

I LIKE Mel Gibson! I like everyone who is controversial and doesn't apologize for it. I think Charlie Sheen is my new favorite actor! I think all Nicolas Cage movies need to be burned though.

This is such a timely thread. Hollywood is crazy right now. First Mel Gibson. Then Charlie Sheen goes so coo-coo for cocoa puffs that he's replacing Michael Jackson as the medias tethered goat to distract us from war. Arnold is now known as the Sperminator; not even the illuminati could control Lindsay Lohan and Lady Gaga is now in love with Jesus' corrupt accountant!

I don't boycott anyone in Hollywood. Working in media and entertainment can be so ridiculous and draining, I understand why people go crazy. Still, I do agree our society tends to be far more forgiving of wealthy celebrities than the general public (we're more forgiving of rich people in general).

But I wonder how many of the gossip and hater stories against famous or well-known people are even remotely based in reality. There is a whole industry now dedicated to trash talking and gossip. That motivates people to lie and make up stories out of thin air since there is an avenue for it. Certain celebrities get villainized because audiences want it or an ex just has a personal vendetta. Girls like Paris Hilton have a bad reputation, but she's probably nowhere near as bad as people make her out to be. She's beautiful too, so it's quite likely a lot of people just hate her out of jealousy. When you're a drop-dead gorgeous blonde bombshell, your looks alone could make more enemies than friends. People would feel threatened.

^I'd guess it's more jealousy of her money than her looks.

I used to boycott Aldous Snow, Jonah Hill, AND Puff Daddy.  Then my wife randomly rented 'Get Him to the Greek' and I nearly pissed myself.  Maybe it was one of those 'low expectations' situations or maybe I was just in a goofy mood, but that movie was hysterical to me.

i don't bother because with hollywood where do you draw the line? the actors, directors, producers? lots of ickiness to go around.

Thankfully I don't have  to formally boycott anyone's movies that I find unsavory (for ex. Mel Gibson) -the talent is so weak I would not watch them anyway.
