Kertes plots mixed-use Shoppes of Solon North

Kertes Enterprises Inc. of Woodmere Village plans to redevelop the southeast corner of Brainard and Miles roads in Solon with a $10 million project dubbed 'The Shoppes of Solon North.'

*thats all i could get out of crains

I am sure I am not alone when I say that "Shoppes" make me barf.  Same with "Olde", "Grille" and "Centre."  "Commons" is at least spelled right (using standard American English) so it merely makes me wretch.

^I am with you.  "Shoppes" is always a good indicator of place where I would not like to shop.

How about some bad names for the new Warehouse District Project:

The Shoppes at Warehouse Commons

Cleaveland Towne Centre

This is less than half a mile from the new development taking place at Harvard Road along I-271 on the easternmost edge of Warrensville Heights. They just finished the new Marriott and a new restaurant called Abuelos is nearing completion. Another new retaurant is half complete and a large, and I mean *large* plot of land is being graded as we speak which will become a huge shopping plaza with 20+ stores. That area is so congested as it is.. from Harvard to Mayfield Road is a living nightmare of traffic along the main arterial roads, all this new shit will only make it worse.

Err..the one I hate the most is "Crossings". It always seems to be used with a corresponding 'c' or 'k' word like Cranberry Crossings...or in a sentence like "The Mall at Tuttle Crossing" or "The Crossings at ...."

Ugh, it makes me cross.

The Crossings at Cleveland Centre of Warehouse Shoppes of Drunken Frat Boy Run

The Shoppes at Man Sleeping on a Sewer Grate

Ye Olde Vacancy Village

Bob Stark's Spare-Changin'-Bum-o-Rama

I can't believe this was the issue that finally made me register for the forum.

Yeah, pretty lame, but welcome to the board anyway.

a good friend of mine made this one up:

The Abyss at East Cleveland Crossing

Remember the strip shopping center in Frank Jackson's ward where there were shootouts between gang members? .....

"The Crosshairs at Longwood Plaza"

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

There are so many titles that just make me laugh. I live out in Toledo and there seems to be a lot of "Farms" in names for subdivisions. Another title that makes me shiver is "Young Professionals".

Yeah, the ones named "Farms" or "The Reserve at..." are frankly just depressing to those of us who in fact enjoy, um, farms and undeveloped reserves.

Along the lines of "Young Professionals," "Executive Homes" is terrifically revolting.  And any ad that describes the development as "prestigious."

When I lived in Nashville, there was a mall named 100 Oaks.  I love it when we name the development after what it replaces.

Wetlands Plaza

'Luxurious' or 'Deluxe' Condos....I don't think I have seen any development that is not described as one of these.

I know Zaremba's Avenue District is a wonderful development, but on their website, they mention that buying a condo/townhouse from them will allow people to live a "sophisticated lifestyle"  :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o. A
