No, not for me.

One of our city's future transplants will be here this weekend and KJP and I have offered to show the person few neighborhoods or at least meet with a map and have some discussion about areas of the city - I believe the person is interested in W side or near downtown such as Ohio City, Tremont or Lakewood.

KJP and I have conflicting availability and so I was wondering if maybe we could organize a couple of small UO get-togethers to help this person with some advice and come along for the driving and insight, or maybe drive them yourself with others tagging a long. Not talking about hours of time here, maybe a quick meeting for coffee or breakfast and then a drive.

I am (tentatively) going to meet the person on Sunday at Deagan's kitchen in Lakewood at 10am. I can talk a bit about the areas of lakewood as I'm familiar with them, and places just surrounding lakewood. Is anyone else available? Let's call that Time Slot A.

KJP is shooting for a time slot on Saturday afternoon. Anyone available for Time Slot B?

Would be great to have some others along.

I can devote an hour or two on Saturday starting at about noon in Ohio City, as I will be coming out of a meeting at noon in Ohio City.

Anyone? Bueller?

Weekend is fully committed.

But you should stop at the "Party at Gordon Square" in Detroit Shoreway.

Aside from all the "fun" stuff like live bands, a beer garden,  and free vintage cartoons at the Capitol.  They have walking and housing tours of the neighborhood.

They also have a free shuttle to "parade the Circle" over on the east side.

I think Parade the Circle is not much fun. The last 2 times I've tried to go have been horribly frustrating. You can't see the parade as the crowds are too thick, people are elbowing each other to try to see it, and it's an awful lot of walking for a family event. We had to park over by the E border of the Cleveland clinic and carry little RNR (in a baby carrier) through that park in front of the art museum to get close to the parade, and ended up not being able to see any of it. Maybe when he's a little bigger and we could go early and just wait somewhere. He's not much for waiting at this age, especially in direct sunlight.

I was really hoping some folks who don't have little kids might step up to join as I only have so much time I can be away. I can't go doing a festival or whatever, I just want to meet the person and outline some places they can be looking and go over what to avoid (in my opinion), I can't act as tour guide.

If I wasn't committed I would....but here is an easy way to see one of the neighborhoods on the near west side.

The walking and housing tours means a guided look at 1 of the 4 possible neighborhoods on the (nearish) west side.

Tremont

Ohio City

Detroit Shoreway.

Lakewood

and it is between Ohio City and Lakewood  Have KJP send them over when he is done showing them the OC.  Head up 25th to Franklin, left on Franklin, right on 65th and find a place to park.

Just re-checked the calendar.

The Sunday "commitment" is my wife going to a bridal shower at 2 pm.  Thank god it isn't one of those new fangled "couples" showers.

So I can be avialable Sunday from 1:30 or so until about 3:30 or 4.

Grew up in Rocky River, lived in Tremont for 5 years.  Moved to D/S 2 years ago.  Looked for 2.5 years for a place in most of the areas you have referenced.  My wife moved here from NYC.

All are good for different reasons, so I am not biased (completely) towards any of them over the others.

Send me a PM if that works, i will give you my cell # and you can give me some more background on who this is and what they are looking for....

Married/single

male/female

age range

where they will be working

any specific interests...biking, golfing, boating, etc..

Oy, so sorry, the person asking for assistance now has to leave Sunday morning so Sunday is out and so is my assistance. If anyone else is interested, I believe KJP is planning a meet up on Saturday.

I am going to have to limit my involvement to early afternoon Saturday, such as between noon and 2 p.m.
