June 11, 201114 yr I think the "most recommended" comment sums it up nicely: "I grew up in Akron in the 60's and 70's and now live in Columbus which is probably the only city in Ohio where there is some semblance of job growth - and hope. Columbus has been steadily growing over the last 20 years thanks in large part to Ohio State University. Buckeye Graduates know well in advance that it is pointless to return to Akron, Canton, Warren, Dayton, or Portsmouth. NO JOBS. So they stay in the greater Columbus area and plug-away in $30K per year jobs hoping to climb into $40K, maybe even $50K per year positions. In the state of Ohio, $50K per year is a damn good paying job. When Lebron left the Cleveland Cavaliers it hurt because the team was guaranteed to lose for years -- but it mostly hurt because his departure was a reminder to Ohioans that the grass is always greener anywhere but Ohio. He made us face that reality and we didn't like it. " Is that why the Raiders & Rams left L.A., why the Sonics left Seattle, the Flames & Thrashers left Atlanta, why Carmelo & Jay Cutler couldn't wait to get out of Denver, why Bosh left Toronto...? Because the grass was greener in the places they went? People put way too much stock into what 25 year-old "players" or athletes do. If I was 25 again, with tons of cash, single, and had a choice to live my winter month's for a few years (when the season is played) chasing bikini's, or have to shovel snow of my car and work a little harder for stuff, I'd choose Miami too. But that doesn't mean Miami is a better place to live the rest of my life, raise a family, etc.. Especially when you consider Miami metro has a higher unemployment rate, foreclosure rate, bankruptcy rate, and crime rate; and has fewer job openings than Cleveland metro.

Most native Ohioans don't delude ourselves. Good for us.

July 15, 201410 yr Hehehehehehehe I guess he forgot to mention that we always come back home eventually
July 16, 201410 yr Wow, this thread really takes me back. Needless to say I had a lot of anger in 2010 and 2011, anger that even before last week had almost completely dissipated. That said, I will always begrudge Brian Windhorst for what he did during and after James' departure.
July 22, 201410 yr Brian Windhorst was a complete idiot when Lebron announced he was coming back as well. Numerous comments were made from him regarding that Northeast Ohio is dying and that lebron is the only hope they have.

Why do you think that the 2014 announcement came from a more reputable and reliable media company that can cover his return on multiple levels? ;) ;) ;)
