An important part of the contest process is to validate the votes according to the contest rules. Due to the overwhelming number of votes that were cast in this year’s Community Challenge, our vote validation process is taking much longer than expected. Given the July 4th holiday and the technical requirements involved, we ask for your patience as we complete the validation process"

July 2, 201113 yr I quote an NTHP official on the rules in this post from the morning of the last day of the competition: http://overtherhine.wordpress.com/2011/06/30/otr-down-by-1300-votes-voting-ends-today-at-5pm-est/
July 6, 201113 yr 2011 This Place Matters Community Challenge UPDATE: Announcement expected by Monday, July 18. This year, the Community Challenge generated over 150,000 votes – the largest number of votes in This Place Matters history. As you know, an important part of the contest process is to validate the votes according to the contest rules, and unfortunately, our vote validation process is taking much longer than expected. As of Wednesday, July 6th, we have successfully validated 30% of the votes and are steadily working toward 100% validation. We know that you are anxiously awaiting the final results (as is the entire Trust family!), but because of the prize money involved, we ask for your patience as we complete the validation process. July 11, 201113 yr sorry. 3rd is better than 4th though. I lobbied hard for Cleveland, and switched my vote to you. Wish the Plain Dealer wrote this up..Cleveland was nowhere to be seen
July 11, 201113 yr Very proud of OTR's showing but definitely have some misgivings about the way the challenge was managed. Kinda shady if you ask me...
July 11, 201113 yr Lol. My aunt lives in Newport, RI and I can tell you...the Preservation Society of Newport County does not need more money.
July 11, 201113 yr I would take that $5,000 and sue the National Trust for Historic Preservation to overturn the results, and reinstate OTR to the top. Or I'd be happy that you placed, and do good things with the money. Congrats you guys.
July 11, 201113 yr Interesting that NTHP included Newport in the first place. NTHP must have really wanted to grow its email list...with the right kind of preservationi$t I lobbied hard for Cleveland, and switched my vote to you. Thank you.
