Cincinnati, Ohio 2011: Residence & dining hall at Xavier University takes shape

The new residence hall and dining complex at Xavier University is taking shape. I was able to photograph progress on the new building on campus July 7 and July 9, and to say that the land has been transformed from outdated houses-converted-into-offices into a mammoth campus structure in just a little over one year is amazing.

To think that 535 students will be living in the new four- to five-level residence hall in just two months is a shocking thought when you peer into the grounds. But step inside, and much of the interior has been completed sans furniture installation.

5 Interior suite appointments will be photographed once furniture is moved in. Photographed July 9.

The dining hall is much larger than the former Hoff Dining Hall at Cintas. Additions include a dedicated vegan/vegetarian area, a fresh salad station (think Fresh Fusions that was in the Gallagher Student Center), a bakery, a large gas-fired pizza oven and a full pizza bar. Plus, it will be home to one of the only Coke Freestyle vending machines in the area!

I hope you enjoyed this tour of the new residence hall and dining complex at Xavier. The next photographic update will be in July after the furniture has been installed, and after the green roof has been sodded.

Nice Pics Sherman!

All the recent Xavier development is simply amazing, as your crystal-clear pictures attest.  Thank you so much for this visual tour, Sherman;  I'm an old XU grad myself, loving my alma mater more and more.  Looking forward to more such photos!

It's hard to believe--I graduated from XU in 2000.  The rate of change since then is unreal.  It's like a completely different school.

Plus, I love that they are so consistent in their approach.  You can tell all the new stuff, but it still fits in with the old stuff.

Looks like top-notch work happening at Xavier.
