Cincinnati in the spring

Cincinnati is one busy city in the spring time. Not only do the trees start blooming and tulips bud out, but construction season officially begins. Here is a sample of what's been photographed around the Queen City in the past few months!

Further east, between Interstate 71 and Madison Road, Dana Avenue was repaved last year as part of a routine asphalt resurfacing project. The roadway configuration was modified, however, from three through-lanes in each direction with a turning lane to two through-lanes in each direction with a turning lane and two bike lanes, one for each direction.

Over-the-Rhine is the neighborhood I recently left for Northside.

Downtown

The Banks, Metropole/21C, and more - it's where all of the exciting activity is at! Below are photographs of The Banks Phase I, which includes over 300 apartments and 80,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

12 Questionable building facade choices, but at least The Banks is finally happening!

13 Why hello there, Queen City Square. From this angle, The Banks looks solid. Plenty of windows to let the sunlight and air in, and decks.

Queen City Square

Nearby is the newly completed Queen City Square, which I had extensively photographed the construction of. The 4th Street Lobby is wonderful - and now has a post-modern chandelier to adorn the circular entrance.

Spring in Cincinnati

Cincinnati always blooms out during the spring time, in ways that are rarely captured, studied or admired. To many, they are just blips in a sea of buildings as the car passes by, but by stepping out and admiring the hundreds of different species that are cultivated or blown in, one can appreciate just what plant diversity Cincinnati really has.

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden

You can't argue with the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. The following were taken during the annual Tunes and Blooms event that was held every Thursday in April.

Eden Park

Eden Park is one of Cincinnati's most popular parks. It contains the free Krohn Conservatory, overlooks and plenty of open space.

Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum has just become more convenient to access, since I recently moved from Over-the-Rhine to Northside. The amount of plant diversity is astounding.

Enjoy!

Wow those are the first photos I have seen of the Banks project from those angles. Looks like it's going to be an amazing place. Great photos as always Sherman!

Thanks Sherman.  Good stuff.  Always enjoy!

Ya did good.

Spectacular as always!

  • 1 month later...

These are wonderful Sherman. The photos of The Banks are especially good, and great for a guy like me who hasn't been in Cincinnati for quite a few months to see the progress first-hand.
