I also saw it a couple of years ago. It's pretty dang cool though :-)

I saw this a while back too. Why would it be a hoax, and where else would the pics have been taken?

I think I read that the pictures are real, but the whole story about the motorcycle, riding around alone, having an all-access pass from her father, etc. are all a hoax.  She simply went on one of the tours offered of the area.

 

Even if those parts are fictitious, I still find the pictures quite interesting.

Is most of the damage from the disaster itself or just neglect?

i saw a fascinating pbs 'frontline' show about chernobyl recently. they talked about the events of disaster, actually interviewed the key players, walked around the city, & a woman visited her old abandoned apt building home for the first time. a riveting show, it was just stunning.

See East Cleveland, Kinsman Avenue area in Cleveland, the Mahoning Valley through Youngstown, much of southern Warren towards Niles, downtown Alliance, parts of Toledo, Cincy's Over The Rhine and probably a few more I'm forgetting. It's not hard to imagine.

what a terrible thought. makes you wonder about the local nuclear power plants. how many are in ohio? just davis bessie and perry? they have had their scares:

 

Ohio Nuclear Highlights

 

Of the 31 States with nuclear capacity, Ohio ranks 16th.

On June 24, 1998, the Davis Besse nuclear power plant declared an alert when a tornado touched down in its switchyard.  According to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, eleven transmission towers near the plant were damaged by the tornado. 

In November 2000, shareholders approved the merger of FirstEnergy and GPU, creating the Nation's sixth largest private power utility.  FirstEnergy owns and operates both of Ohio's nuclear power plants.

In February 2003, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a preliminary finding that problems of "high safety significance"exist at Ohio's Davis Besse nuclear power plant.  Workers at the plant discovered extensive corrosive damage to the reactor vessel head.

On August 14, 2003, a power outage in the Northeast forces the shutdown of the Perry reactor.  The outage did not affect the Davis Besse reactor, shut down seven months earlier for repairs.
