Has one of Cincinnati's golden boys decided to come home?

Lachey buys house in Colerain Twp.

By Lauren Bishop

Nick Lachey has bought a home in his former hometown, but sources close to the sale say that it’s for his father, not for him.  The former 98º singer, who separated from wife Jessica Simpson in November, and his father, John, bought a house in Colerain Township on Dec. 23, Hamilton County Auditor records show.

The Lacheys purchased the 1,934-square-foot, 12-year-old house for $339,900. The one-story brick house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms.  The 32-year-old star of MTV’s “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica,” who grew up in College Hill, has been living in the Calabasas, Calif. home he shared with Simpson.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports on the full story.

He must not like his dad very much. Why did he buy in colerain township? That area is going downhill.

Colerain Twp. is not going downhill...at least not this part of it.  This house is out in the "country".

The home is at 9237 Brehm Rd. and is listed as owned by John R and Nicholas S Lachey.  It was built in 1994.

Colerain Township has 2 very different parts to it. I would consider those parts semi-rural and suburban. The area which you probably think of as going downhill fast is Northbrook/East of Colerain Ave & South of 275. In that case I would have to agree with you, some of this area has become rather depressed, and resembles the rest of the houses in the area. Western/Northern Colerain Township is rather different than than this area, as it is mostly undeveloped. Most developments in this area of the township are few and far between, but when they do occur they are subdivisions with houses ranging from $250K to $300K. These developments, like many developments in Western Hamilton County, are limited by the lack of infrastructure to support them. In addition to the lack of infrastructure, Colerain Township has a zoning policy that a lot of developers feel make it impossible to develop the land for a profit. In this area you will mostly see houses on relatively large tracts of land, farms, open space, or new, cookie cutter subdivisions.
