I've seen stranger things, but my money's on stick a fork in him.

Except I'm not sure I have seen anything stranger:

I think it's crazy to believe that Kasich is going to roll to re-election in 2014.  He's going to be pummeled over SB5 no matter who he faces, whether it's Strickland or a dark-horse such as FitzGerald.  Either way, it's not going to be a cakewalk.

Kasich is smoooooooth. He knows how to change positions on issues without being called a flip-flopper. He'll put on any face that he feels the people want in order to win and is excellent at following polls. He's 1000X better than Romney at it. In fact, he knew to stay away from Mandel and Romney because he could sense that they were toxic to his re-election hopes or even to a possible presidential run in '16.

Kasich is definitely an interesting cat. He is as you say, but I also honestly think he has some screws loose, which could/should be his undoing.

He might be in the early stages of some kind of age-related brain disorder. I'm definitely not educated in that sort of thing, but his lack of verbal impulse control could indicate something like that. I don't remember if he was like that in the '90s.

^well, we had a president with early stage dementia, so why not?

Mandel was the worst debater I've ever heard in a race for a major political seat.  The worst.  Usually, I can discern whether the debater is not all that bright or whether the debater simply thinks the audience is gullible and stupid.  When it came to Mandel, I think it was both.

He talked like a novice version of those salesmen that sell innovative home goods at the State Fair.

Uch, that guy is such a creep.

Different rules for those who write them.

I just don't understand how Bruce could have failed so badly with his son. It wasn't for a lack of trying; his kid is just an empty-headed, lying, sack of worthlessness.

Talent and ability often skip a generation.

Well, it looks like Josh's star has long since faded and is being replaced by Jon Husted. Per the Washington Post by way of Crain's 'Editor's Choice' section today:

Following state Treasurer Josh Mandel's unsuccessful Senate bid in 2012, Husted may be the Ohio GOP's next big hope. The secretary of state served in the state Senate and as speaker of the state House for four years. He didn't have a great 2012 election, overseeing some controversy over how the state conducted its elections. But the 45-year-old is still in line for big things, including potentially his party's next gubernatorial candidate, after Gov. John Kasich ® is finished.

That's eligible for understatement of the year.

The editorial isn't surprising considering the right-wingers own the PD these days.

The Ohio governor's race typically goes to the party not holding the Presidency, especially during a second Presidential term.

Plus, the Ohio Democratic Party is ineffectual at best.  Look at the County Executive primary race in the most Democratic county in the state.  Two non-entities with little or no executive experience, and a qualified candidate who's likely not a contender because he's not in the party mainstream.

Mandel and Renacci got torched by the PD article about the Suarez contributions.  What an embarrassment this kid is to our State....

^and yet he was protecting the rights of an Ohio citizen like any good public official.  (along with Husted who also made calls to California)  What I found so interesting about the article was how much of it seemed to be saying "read between the lines".
