Here are a couple. I have more that Ill post later. Feel free to post your own!

It was cool to see the fake building pieces scattered around. They also installed a phone booth and solar powered parking meter.

Anyone got any pics of the repainted fast food places on Euclid that have been mentioned on some of the threads?

WOW, thats awesome. I wish I was down there right now!

So cool. I've also been watching the batman filming via youtube. Definitely worth checking out.

Sooner or later people who are filming the filming of the movies will be developing pre-movies with their footage. Amateur stuff sure but I can see it being a thing

cool -- local ny bloggy coverage from gothamist (and no snark since that jerkoff joey left)!

Joss Whedon Is Crushing NYC Cabs In Cleveland Right Now

CABavengers0811.jpg

Live from... Cleveland! New York City cabs being crushed, during the filming of a scene from The Avengers. The production team, helmed by Joss Whedon, attempted to make East 9th Street in Cleveland look like Times Square, according to Movieline—did they succeed? The folks at Medical Mutual filmed some of the action from their offices above, and you can check out video on their Facebook page—there's a lot of black smoke explosions!

The Avengers

A few more details have been revealed about the movie's use of the NASA Plum Brook facility near Sandusky, Ohio. It appears that the building will actually appear as itself, or at least as some NASA facility, because S.H.I.E.L.D. actually teams up with NASA during the movie. Also, it has been confirmed that the main cast members present for this filming will be Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Renner as Nick Fury and Hawkeye, respectively. Looking ahead, filming will reportedly move to Cleveland's East Ninth Street, which is doubling for New York and reportedly is being made to look like "a superhero war zone." [AceShowbiz.com]

Here are a ton of set photos from the Cleveland location, all of which very much seem to live up to the descriptor "superhero war zone." [Cleveland Plain-Dealer and Comic Book Movie]

I took a lot last Friday, thanks for making a thread for this!

I'm curious what they will do to the Rotunda and the AT Tower/Building next to it when they leave.  It looks so much better now! :-P and I love how they just kept the Schofield construction site as is, only made it a construction site in NYC!  Also, anyone have pictures of what they're doing on Public Square?

I'm not a big comic book movie fan (outside of the new Batman series), so I have what might be a dumb question: Is this Avengers movie a big deal as far as comic book movies go?

^ i dk about that, but the avengers filming in cleveland is popping up all over the ny media and putting cle in a positive light!

check out this shot -- wow thats nuts! so did anyone catch those explosions?!! what was that like? from the nypost:

Mayhem, NYPD cops, pedestrians fleeing in terror . . . just another day in Manhattan, right?

Actually, it's downtown Cleveland playing the role of Midtown Manhattan yesterday for the superhero flick "The Avengers."

In this explosive scene, aliens have just launched an attack outside "Grand Central Terminal."

PHOTOS: 'THE AVENGERS' SET

The scene's real-life location, East Ninth Street and Euclid Avenue in downtown Cleveland, is blocks from Lake Erie, while an old landmark bank was standing in for the iconic train station.

"The Avengers" stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. It's due out in May.

Side note:  It's currently being projected to be a $260 million film...putting it as the 3rd most expensive film of all time...

Disney needs to recoup Marvel's losses and make up for having to buy the rights for movie deals that were already in place.

They've put all their franchise characters, sans the X-Men (and their related characters) into this movie.

Its not going to be pretty next May.  I'll do everything in my power to see to it that its a failure! (evil laugh)

Just because WB wont get off their @ss and use all the characters from the DC universe, instead of just rehashing Batman and Superman every 10 years or so.  Since X-men came out in 2000 they remade Superman (meh) and Batman (Christopher Nolan is a genius) while Marvel unleashed their entire portfolio.  It took 11 years to go to their next most recognizable property, Green Lantern, which was terrible.  Hopefully Wonder Woman is better, I am already writing off the next Green Lantern as Ryan Reynolds is still leading it.

WB handling of DC gets a big fail.

OH NO YOU DI-INT!  Those movies were commercial successes!  Prove to me otherwise.  Thor was snooze-fest!  Captain America looked like Captain Crunch and that ending?  REALLY?

What exactly do you know of the "handling" of DC?  Do tell!

Regardless of all that, I am very likely to go see this movie in the theaters because a significant portion of it was filmed here and it actually looks decent.

I don't mean in a commercial sense.  Any movie can be made at a price point that will likely generate a ROI.  It is the risk taking approach that marvel has embarked upon as opposed to being beholden to one studio the DC has stayed in.  I think marvel had the same arrangement for a good amount of time.  But once the rights reverted back to them they went gangbusters on marketing them to various studios.  Some have been terrible as well, Daredevil, Elektra, both Fantastic Fours were meh at best.  But they have at least opened the vault, and it looks like DC might finally be doing so as well.

I am still upset that I didn't get to see the explosion yesterday.  I'm in the PNC building, but on the wrong side :(

I hope you're joking.  Green Lantern was an utter dud compared to Thor or even Captain America, let alone the latest X-Men.  I mean Smurfs was a commercial success but I don't think anyone, even a 5-year old, would say it's a better movie than, say, Rise of the Planet of the Apes or something.  I know promotion is your thing and all but you gotta take an 'L' for that one.  That's like me defending Soul Plane!

Nothing can be made that cheap!  :P

I dont understand what you mean.  With Sony buying Marvel Entertainment, they are doing exactly what TW has done with DC comics for the longest time.  However, Sony has the added financial burden of buying out distribution rights of previous Marvel productions [Disney wasn't going to do this at first, but they like to control everything] and the projects already in the pipeline since Marvel (for the most part) sought distribution rights on a project by project basis.  Meaning they have no leverage on post theatrical distribution or performance.  Not to mention the Administrative overhead of not having a HQ and building out sets and office for each production.  They had several different entities fight for control over the movie (the marvel studios and marvel Animation were not owned by the same companies).  They thought they stop studio cannibalization on the front end, but screwed themselves on the Home Entertainment side of the equation.  I dealt with this insanity when we divested the rights to two characters.  There is a lot more stuff I could go into, but can't.

Disney has a large HE audience, so of course they want to control their properties/Catalog.  Which is exactly how DC comics has handled by TW.  So what is the difference?

Not that there's any objective way to measure one movie vs. another, but I think Rotten Tomatoes is a pretty good barometer:

Green Lantern - 26% - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/green_lantern/

Captain America: The First Avenger - 79% - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/captain-america/

Thor - 77% - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/thor/

This is all well and good, but who owns the rights to Thundarr the Barbarian. THAT's what I'm waiting for. Well, that and the Family Circus.

Aside from it being filmed here, I'm finding myself not all that excited about the Avengers movie. I like both Iron Man movies, but other than him, and Scarlett Johansen (with the power of HOT), I'm not all that interested in a Viking, a do Gooder, and Mark Ruffalo trying to save the world.

Get me the Super Friends / Justice League movie, dammit. But if you put in Wendy and Marvin and [gag] Wonderdog, MTS, I'm gonna find out where you live and slap the Puerto Rican right out of you.

Yeah, but they need to be revamped/reorganized.  Besides, you dont go against family!  But seriously, I'm glad you posted that, as I do need to make a trip to their office and evaluate how they fit into our overall LTP.

They do now, but Disney didn't always have control of Marvel.  This allowed Marvel to get many of their properties made if there was interest, from them and another party.  This is how they got their lesser known properties made; Lionsgate took on Punisher which is not a major property to begin with so it works for them.  Is that a type of movie that WB would have made, probably not.

And can we please agree that Green Lantern wasn't well received by the public at large?  I had thought that was indisputable, regardless if it made money.

Yeah, but they need to be revamped/reorganized.  Besides, you dont go against family!

It wouldn't be such a popular site if it wasn't objective.

It's my job to make you people believers.  We're ingrained - via our products and services - into peoples lives, to the point, they don't know how many brands we own, that they pay for, and how they are integrated.

And this is why unbridled Capitalism scares me.

Lots of people out today trying to catch the action. Not much happening though. Lots of flipped over taxis and destroyed cars, trucks and nypd cars. More building pieces as well. I did see a scene with extras dressed up in business suits with brief cases and covered and dirt running and screaming while they had smoke and fire. Only had my terrible camera on my cheap cell phone so here are a couple pictures. There were decent views from Euclid and Prospect but we decided to go to the top of Ameritrust parking garage where there were only like 2 other guys up there.

Half of the Prospect side crowd(Way larger crowd on Euclid Avenue)

securedownload1.jpg

so did anyone catch the explosions? or any actual action? or celebrities?

if no stay tuned it sounds like there is plenty more to come...!

Is the guy in the Captain America suit anyone? I saw him today when we passed by while walking downtown. I saw him running on top of some cars and them moving some flipped cars with a fork lift. I thought my son may be interested but a garbage truck drove by and that was it for the movie filming.

Captain America is Chris Evans, but also "Thor" was supposedly filming today as well.  That is Chris Hemsworth.  Next week look for Scarlett Johansson filming on Public Square.

When they filmed transformers 3 outside my office building, the debris from nearby structures was so convincing and beautifully modeled, you could put the foam mockups next to the real thing and the difference was indistinguishable.

What's even more sad, is that our movie sets look more real than the disney-esque buildings we see everyday on our lives.

I have heard of Scarlet Johanson but I thought her name was Charlotte Johanson. My fiance corrected me the other day.

Scarlett Johannson isn't in Cleveland yet, cause she was having dinner with Ryan Reynolds last night at the restaurant I work at in Hollywood.

Sometime this week.

Has anyone else noticed how TERRIBLE the police traffic direction has been during filming (specifically around Playhouse Square)?  I found out why today - they're not Cleveland cops, but rather, people hired by the movie producers.  The traffic cop director told me that this morning after I called to complain about the "officer" directing traffic at E. 13th and Euclid.  Makes so much more sense now, lol.

its just berzerk around downtown with this shoot, glad i got to see it!

My gosh.  It's amazing how much it must cost to film a movie like this!

I like how they even transformed an RTA bus into a Stuttgart bus.

They made everything on public square German even the Renaissance Hotel!

^ back to Cleveland's early German roots! haha

Unfortunately, the collapsing storm drain curb in the first mrnyc photo doesn't appear to be filming related.

Seriously though, I'd be OK if some of our local storefront designers took a few notes from the set designers...

I'm not to sure, there is the possiblitly that equipment, putting props into place, came up on the curb and damaged the storm drain.

The German additions are hilarious! Guten tag, Cleveburgh!!

ROFLMAO!  HUSH!

Several people on my bus were really disappointed when they found out the Bed, Bath and Beyond in the old East Ohio Gas building was just part of the movie, and not a store going in.
