I am boycotting the Bengals. I will never watch another game or spend another dime on them. They suck - are run poorly - and are a sorry franchise - that still makes a profit. Sports should not be about profit - they should be about winning. If you want to make a profit make widgets. CINCINNATIANS AGAINST THE BENGALS!!

  • First post in this thread in 14 years... but I figured it's the appropriate venue.   Congratulations to my dad's alma mater, the Padua Bruins. Their women's volleyball team won the Louisvill

  • Actually this is quite the norm.  Ohio, Wisc, Minn, and Nebraska are womens volleyball breeding grounds.  The Big Ten, followed by the Pac 12, are the nations premier college volleyball leagues.  Scho

So did the Bengals do Cincinnati proud last night? :res:

Any team that beats the Broncos is doing something right.....for Cleveland. :D

BTW Al Michals, why didn't you want to talk about your two year stay as Reds play-by-play man? (He totally blew off a photo of him and Nuxall in the booth from back then)

Yeah, the Bengals did. They made the city proud with that effort.

As for Al Michaels, he was probably asked by ABC not to dwell on his time spent here. He did mention living and working here a couple of times.

Oh, and he also called Camp Washington Chili "Skyline". :(

^ I saw that - LOL

He called the Roebling Bridge the Suspension Bridge (Yes I know it used to be called that)

Random pictures from the Bengal's game versus the Cowboys on 11/7/04. Took one of the cranes and steel erection at the convention center expansion from the stadium's third level platform.

^ Fantastic. Great game, too.

Hell, all of my teams won this weekend at every level. It was good to be grasscat.

Columbus Destroyers unveil new logos, helmets, and jerseys. Unfortunately, I only have pics of the new logos.

^ Who are they?

^ Arena football team.

^Ahh.

1) The Bengals put away a bad Redskins team for their first road win of the year.

2) The Browns have taken their rightful place in last place of the AFC North.

3) The Buckeyes blew it big time and are cementing their spot in the Motor City Bowl.

4) I don't normally follow high school football very much, but my alma mater the Colerain Cardinals are having a monster season. They play in the Region 4 final Saturday against Moeller at Miami's Yager Stadium. Results/stats:

Aug 28 vs. Elder (Nippert) W 21-3

Sept 5 vs. Anderson (PBS) W 48-10

Sept 11 PRINCETON W 45-12

Sept 17 @ Sycamore W 49-0

Sept 24 @ Milford W 70-3

Oct 8 @ Fairfield W 56-14

Oct 15 LAKOTA WEST W 69-20

Oct 22 OAK HILLS W 56-0

Oct 29 @ La Salle W 35-7

Nov 6 ELDER W 38-3

Nov 13 vs. Centerville (Yager)W 35-0

Total yards/game: 419.6-112.7

So are they Bengals a wildcard threat after winning that game?

^

So are the Bengals a wildcard threat after winning that game?

^

LOL!

I quoted myself :)

^ Probably not. They'd have to go 5-2 to even have the slimmest of shots, 6-1 if they really want to have much of a chance.

They have remaining road games at Baltimore, New England and Philly and I don't see them winning any of them.

They did beat NE 31-3 in the preseason, that has to count for something.

Well, for one it was here and for another thing it was preseason. The Bengals did look good on their first two drives of the preseason game, but other than that what can you really tell about 2nd and 3rd string?

Plus that was like 3 months ago.

First thing is first. Pittsburgh on sunday will be the telling point.

Go Bucks!

^ Hell yeah...Troy Smith carried the team on his back and the defense was tight!

I'm just sorry that Wisconsin couldn't hold up their end of the bargain and M------- still gets to go to the Rose. :(

 yeah how come they still get to go to the Rose Bowl? Oh well, great game yesterday! I have to admit I was surprised we actually won, but yay  Too bad my friend and I got into an accident on the way home! gah. You can call me Frankenstein for the next week, til my stitches come out.

 yeah how come they still get to go to the Rose Bowl?

First tie breaker is head-to-head competition and Michigan defeated Iowa earlier in the year.

You can call me Frankenstein for the next week' date=' til my stitches come out.[/quote']

What, Frankenstein? :D

Hope everyone was okay.

yep everyone was ok, just some minor injuries! pretty lucky actually.

How about that Bengals/Browns game today?

JESUS CHRIST!

(who dey)

WHO DEY!!!!!!!

Was listening to the game throught the entire ride back to Purdue today.  Gotta love 700 WLW's broadcast range. Did they end up setting record for high scores today?

The record was 113 before the merger in 1966.

113 -- Washington 72, New York Giants 41, Nov. 27, 1966

106 -- Cincinnati 58, Cleveland 48, Nov. 28, 2004

101 -- Oakland 52, Houston 49, Dec. 22, 1963

99 -- Seattle 51, Kansas City 48 (OT), Nov. 27, 1983

98 -- Chicago Cardinals 63, New York Giants 35, Oct. 17, 1948

98 -- San Diego 54, Pittsburgh 44, Dec. 8, 1985

97 -- Los Angeles Rams 70, Baltimore 27, Oct. 22, 1950

96 -- New York Jets 51, Miami 45 (OT), Sept. 21, 1986

95 -- Green Bay 48, Washington 47, Oct. 17, 1983

95 -- x-Philadelphia 58, Detroit 37, Dec. 30, 1995

(x-wild card game)

Thanks for the list, unusualfire.

I did pick them to win this week only because  jamal was not playing. But next week..NE.  I hope Cincy wins though.

How about those Browns?  LOL....

As for the Bengals, I'm glad I don't have to hear that "42 losses in a row on the road against an opponent with a winning record" shit anymore.

How about those Browns? LOL....

I'll be setting up camp in front of Nick Saban's house this week in my attempt to convince him to come back home.

I heard Cincy just got an Arena Football team.

Yeah.  Maybe I should add them to the "failed minor league teams" thread.

Seriously, I watched a Dayton/Lincoln match on a Dayton cable local channel a few years ago and it was just really boring.  And, locally, we all know how the Rockers turned out.

Here's a link to the league.  Go Marshals!:

Minor league Arena Football.  Great!

I'll have to make a roadie to Lake Charles or Houma.

But just how did Tupelo pass up on an Elvis reference?

Here's a blurb on the Marshals from the 12/8/04 Cincinnati Business Courier:

New Cincinnati arena football team to play in '05

U.S. Bank Arena will serve as the new home for the Cincinnati Marshals, a National Indoor Football League team scheduled to begin play in Cincinnati next year.

At a press conference today, the team announced it will compete in a 14-game regular season, with seven of the games to be played at home.  It hasn't been determined yet in which conference of the league the team will play.

The Marshals follow two other arena football teams that attempted to play in Cincinnati, the Rockers and the Swarm, the latter of which folded last year.  The team also has a new Web site, www.cincinnatimarshals.com.

HEY!

A record 5 MAC teams have made bowl games this year: Miami, Marshall, Toledo, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green.

The reason for getting so many is that only 57 teams qualified for post-season bowls and there are 56 bowl slots.

Good job Browns!  17 yards total offense!

^First quarter right?

Whole game...but the good thing is that they got 8 1/2 times more yardage in the 2nd half than they did in the 1st!

Hey!  OU hired former Nebraska coach Frank Solich!  What a high-profile hire!

Huzzah!  This is the best news for Bobcats football since 1968!

Just wanted to say that the bearcats are getting spanked.  :box:

So many mistakes..lol The easily should have had 16 more points

Next year, playoffs baby!

New topic time.

If anyone here cares, Ohio State is going against Louisiana State tonight here in Baton Rouge.

I will be attending the game (because LSU has instituted that ALL students can get in for "free") and representing for OSU (because I have OSU t-shirts and nothing mentioning LSU yet).

From what I saw of LSU's basketball team back in December (before I came back to Ohio for the holidays), they give up too many offensive rebounds to their opponents and are sloppy ball handlers.

OSU does have a chance tonight.

The Bucks actually have a pretty good team this year.  They knocked off a pretty solid Iowa team the other night.

Too bad they'll have no postseason.

Well, LSU (sort of) got it's act together.

They seem much crisper with their ball handling, but their defense came and went (same with Ohio State).

Thought it was funny watch people leaving when OSU was up by 3 with 16 seconds left in regulation. I turned to the people behind me ask why these other people were leaving, LSU still had a chance.  We've become a nation of front runners, or too many people who don't care about sports go to sporting events.

Anyways, it was a good game (other than the refs giving 95% of all the calls to OSU), but Ohio State had nothing left in their tank for the 2nd OT.

  • 3 weeks later...

It's not Ohio sports related but.....

any opinions on the Super Bowl?  (the game, not the ads)

As a devout Eagles fan ( :shoot: thanks Art Modell), I was disapointed that the Eagles lost, but I can walk away knowing the better team won, but that the Eagles (at least the offense) could of done more....and win.

Such is life when you aren't on the winning side I suppose.  :-(
