August 12, 20186 yr August 12, 2018 4:00 am Nonprofits partner on senior-living facility By STAN BULLARD Land-rich legacy senior citizens service provider McGregor Foundation and affordable living provider CHN Housing Partners are teaming their talents for a $12 million senior assisted living project in East Cleveland. The three-story, 90-unit building rising on part of the foundation's McGregor Home, a 32-acre campus at 14900 Private Drive, is designed to serve the growing population of aging people that's producing a welter of senior living projects in the region and nation. However, there's a big difference because the name of the game here is not profit, even though the building due to open next year will provide a mix of low-income and market-rate units to make it a go. R. Robertson Hilton, McGregor Foundation president and CEO, said in an interview last week at McGregor's office at McGregor Home, "We've long been aware of the appalling shortage of senior housing, particularly for the low-income people we serve. We've spent seven years working together to produce this plan." December 24, 20195 yr This would be a welcome change of developments for EC, even if just a small corner is in the city. Investment instead of disinvestment. Has there been any new residential construction in EC since Circle East?

October 20, 20204 yr According to the Loopnet listing, 12550 Euclid Ave, across from the Circle East Townhomes, is now under contract. June 30, 20213 yr Judge orders former Arco Recycling dump operator to pay $30 million in fines, restitution for violations at East Cleveland facility Eric Heisig - Cleveand.com - June 29, 2021 "The verdict is a significant victory for the state, which has for years sought to hold Riley responsible for the environmental havoc it said he wreaked on the poor, inner-ring suburb. November 29, 20213 yr County offers large East Cleveland property By Ken Prendergast / November 28, 2021 Cuyahoga County has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the disposition of a large piece of land that, if redeveloped, could help commercial activity in East Cleveland’s central business district. The sale or lease and possible redevelopment of the property could leverage off nearby University Circle and adjacent transit lines in providing a desperately needed economic lift to the long-struggling inner-ring suburb, say two advocacy groups. February 6, 20223 yr An amazing piece of property available in East Cleveland on Taylor Rd. And I almost hate to see it developed considering it is loaded with trees. But I believe it will go fast. As a side note it is located across the street from the abandoned Warner and Swasey Observatory which if I would have had the money would have been converted to a coffee shop/restaurant . But it may be to far gone at this point. http://www.hannacre.com/search-properties?property_id=9787&office=cleveland&page=1
February 6, 20223 yr ^ Wow that IS alot of trees. I have mixed feelings on this. I'm usually pro smart development and Lord knows that part of town could sure use it but, damn, isn't there an abandoned piece of property that could be substituted before all those trees have to go? Yeah, I already know the answer.

County Council is considering selling the former Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities property, at 13231 Euclid Ave., to Genesis Global Holding, LLC, for $680,000. The state needs to authorize $100 million and leverage at least $1 billion in federal money to rebuild the city's infrastructure and tear down/clean up thousands of substandard properties. That includes remediation of lead paint and other toxins at many homes that can still be salvaged as well as focusing redevelopment incentives on this city. In front of it was this this giant movable camera that definitely did move while we were wandering the streets: https://goo.gl/maps/HLHgA6yaGozWr44q7 We did have a cop come up to us about 5 years ago and he did say to let them know if we find any bodies! Do you really think the Ohio GOP cares about setting a precedent with a Democrat-dominated municipality? And how many potential East Clevelands are there in Ohio? The state has taken over school districts before. The crime, blight and spread of same to neighboring communities is a real threat to the region. East Cleveland previously was in fiscal emergency from 1988 to 2006. It's in fiscal emergency again and has been since 2012. So East Cleveland has been in fiscal emergency for 29 out of the last 35 years! C'mon, this has got to stop. It's right next door to one of the most economically vibrant areas in the state and yet it remains a disaster. There's no reason for East Cleveland's ever-worsening condition except for its own governance. Yes, Cleveland would get the more blighted part except if state and federal monies were provided to significantly clear and clean land, and reassemble it into large, fee-simple parcels along streets rebuilt from the sewers up. Look at the area along Euclid Avenue, north to the tracks, all the way through East Cleveland. Level everything, along with the industrial triangle along East 152nd and Ivanhoe that extends into Cleveland. This was proposed to be the endpoint of the first phase of a Red Line extension to serve a new industrial district. To me, with at least a competent local government overseeing such sites, I would think developers and investors would be very interested in such cleared and cleaned lands. And I would think Cleveland would be very interested in the tax revenue potential if such lands were made development-ready. East Cleveland could be turned from a threat to neighboring communities into a potential asset. August 22, 20231 yr Are the blighted factories/warehouses you see on 90 from the east side by Bratenahl considered East Cleveland? For as long as I can remember that has looked rough. Something definitely needs to be done.
August 22, 20231 yr The lower portion of East Cleveland that would go to Cleveland is more blighted, but has more upside due to proximity to University Circle and the Red Line.
