Those NBA problems were more like an early to mid-2000s thing when mainstream rap and thuggy attitudes in all aspects of life were out of control. And it wasn't just an African-American thing either. Lots of angry young men in those days.

Whew!  Good thing you clarified that

NBA play was also slow and really defensive at that time, which American sports fans generally don't like. Except some old-school Big Ten football fans. It wasn't the best time for the NBA and is why people were so happy when Lebron came around to make the game more exciting.

Good thing the world isn't full of angry young men anymore!

I was trying to refer to where Stern mandated that all players had to wear suits if they were not playing to stop the furs and pimp style dressing that was causing image problems for the league.

Furs and pimp style?  Huh?  That wasn't the issue.  Stern would've been just fine with players in mink coats and Stacey Adams shoes on the bench.  The dress code was put in to place due to players dressing in sweats, jeans, t-shirts, baseball caps, and sneakers, etc....... ironically, many of the products NBA players are hired to market.

Weather doesn't look to be a factor in the game, kickoff temp should be low 40's, maybe light rain.  Emerging storyline seems to be the effect that Percy Harvin's return will have for the Seahawks & their big play ability.

At a job site and they were watching this NFL award show. I normally work pretty fast when I have to go in on a Saturday, but I was pulling out all the stops to get out of earshot of that crap. Poor TV execs having to bend over and take it from the NFL.

I couldn't resist tweeting that the last time Sherman's side went on a roll like this, Atlanta got burned.

All I was rooting for was a good competitive game, yet somehow I still lost.

That game was brutal.  Obviously Seattle defense was stifling, but Denver only had 1 or 2 good drives the entire game.

I can't recall such a one-sided game in recent super bowl history...

Once that safety happened i'm sure people said gameover. lol You just know things will not go your way.

The Denver newspaper headline last night said "SEASICK".

Wow. I agree it was brutal...The expressions on Peyton's face were priceless. I am anxiously awaiting the GIFs and Memes to flood the internet.

I'm sure that was an greatest game in Super Bowl history if you were a Seahawks fan.  For the rest of the nation.... at least the commercials were decent.

It had to be bad for the ratings at the end of the game. Millions i'm sure tuned out after the kickoff return.

So since the NFL is looking for a city (or multiple cities) to host the 2015 draft, and Cleveland is on such a hot streak lately, do you think Cleveland should throw their name in the hat to get a chance at hosting? I think it's worth a shot.

Yes and we need to do more with the Hall of Fame game.  It needs to more closely associated with Cleveland since the majority of people who come stay in downtown Cleveland.

Since Radio City Music Hall seats just over 6,000 and the NFL is looking for a larger space (along with the scheduling issues Radio City has), the only place that I can think of that seats more than that without being too large is the Wolstein Center, but more than likely the Q would be proposed, which I have no problem with. What place could be used for the NFL draft though?

Public Auditorium?

Activities could happen nearby in the connected Convention Center as well as the Mall

"Per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the NFL is requiring any potential venue to have the ability to host a fan festival in an adjacent indoor or outdoor space."

Really?  For a game that is in Canton?  I wonder why that is.

Public Hall seats 10K, so that's a great combination.

Never mind the only two cities under consideration are of course LA and Chicago, there's always next year.......maybe.

Kind of odd that one of those cities hasn't had a team for well over a decade.

LA has the capability to host this.  They have the hotel capacity, Airline seating capacity to each of those cities, and venues

Understood.  Also, a variety of loyalist groups since people living in a city without a team stick with the one from where they are from.  Southern California Browns Backers is huge.

That gives them the mix of teams they always have in NYC.

Not hard to believe as the Browns Backers are the largest sports fan base in the US.

^ did you just forbes us? lol! yeah fanclubs. so they say. i dk if its the biggest anymore, but probably still is. from the bb website:

The total number of Clubs and members changes periodically. Currently, there are over 360 clubs in 10 different countries. You can view these statistics on the home page of www.brownsbackers.org.

edit -- from the website:

About The Backers

The Browns Backers Worldwide (BBW) is considered to be one of the largest organized fan clubs in all of professional sports with members and Clubs established throughout the world. The BBW exists as a non-profit organization to actively support and positively promote the Cleveland Browns.

^That would be the Dallas Cowboys.

Now the Browns Backers may be the largest fan club in the US.

FORBES?  Really Boo?!  ColDayMan[/member], you can do better than that!

If I used the wrong word I apologize to all, Fan Club, is what I was I meant!

Reports are the Ray Rice has received a two game suspension for knocking out his wife/fiancé/whatever.  Josh Gordon is going to get an indefinite suspension for pot.  Unbelievable.

Did you see that video, she looked like a rag doll?  This has nothing to do with the Browns, but I think were comparing two different types of situations.  JG should be suspended and he should be put into a rehab facility and get some counseling.

Along with half of the league.

I disagree.  On one hand you have someone who should be jailed for assault which should not be tolerated at all by the league; and on the other you have someone who at the most should have been charged with a DUI, and what the league found in their testing is legal in a number of states in which they operate.

He's done nothing that warrants rehab, unless you can rehab stupidity.  From what I've heard, you can't fix it!

Rehab isn't necessarily all about the "abuse" and I did mention counseling.

But coach A-hole said he was a "good guy."

Yep. Someone give him the Walter Payton MOY award he's a good guy.

Just asking, but how does a discussion of the potential suspension of a CLEVELAND BROWN; as it compares to another player in the league; not warrant inclusion in the Cleveland Browns thread?

Is the Cleveland Browns thread only for positive dawg pound discussions?

The conversation was moreso about Ray Rice. We have discussed Josh Gordon in the Browns thread and will continue to -- when it's the dominant theme of the discussion rather used as a reference of how bizarre the NFL's values seem to be.

Imagine?  We KNOW how it feels.  At least they have advance warning of the sale and potential move.

Buffalo needs to look at what Sacramento did to keep the Kings against all odds.  Our situation with the Browns back in the 1990s should help.  The NFL learned some lessons, I would think.

Buffalo's stadium is terrible. And they play commercials for auto dealerships on the "jumbotron." And when I was there last the electricity went out, so not only was there no beer for sale but we lost the game clock, so the referees had to do a bird-like dance to signal when the QB's had to snap the ball. And I was treated like garbage for wearing my Chargers jersey, being told to "go back home to my mansion" ha ha. The icing on the pathetic Orchard Park cake was the glorified shrine to O.J. SIMPSON prominently displayed near the end zone.

But despite all that, their predominantly fat, uneducated fan base still doesn't deserve to lose their team.

They are just finishing a $130 million renovation, which will hopefully improve the experience at the "Ralph":

In terms of fans, your experience is just like any other visiting team around the NFL.  I have family in Buffalo and attend all Browns-Bills games in both cities.  My Buffalo family has been treated pretty damn rudely by Browns fans (they describe it as a "hillbilly frat party", populated by drunk douchebags who can't drink a beer without a funnel!).

My experience as a Browns fan in Buffalo has been mostly good.  A little good-natured razzing, but as a rule Buffalo fans respect the Browns fans because of our shared team and city woes.  Plus, when the Browns were gone from 95-99, there was a HUGE contingent of hard core NFL fans who made the trek from Cleveland to Orchard Park for every home game to stay in the game.

I wear my (unlucky) Tomlinson jersey to Browns games too. Buffalo fans have been worse. Maybe I'm just better at defending myself here since I have a good/better knowledge of Cleveland sports  than most Browns fans.

I want to say that iirc the Browns fans were actually invited by the Buffalo Bills to attend games?

I believe you are correct.  Probably put together by the Bills marketing staff to sell some extra tickets during those post-super bowl letdown years.  Now they are just as miserable as Browns fans up there, perhaps even worse as the rumors of relocation are running rampant.
