My understanding is that you have to have a history of riding in Penn and pass an advanced class, then you're allowed to not ride with a helmet.

I've heard that he didn't have the appropriate license, just an expired permit. If true, he shouldn't have been riding at all, but definitely not without a helmet.

The Business Of Football

The Tape On Tagliabue

Kurt Badenhausen, Michael K. Ozanian and Maya Roney

Paul Tagliabue has received much deserved praise for his accomplishments after announcing in March that he would step down after more than 16 years as commissioner of the National Football League. Tagliabue, 65, brought labor peace to the league in 1992 when he and union leader Gene Upshaw negotiated what was then thought to be a highly controversial labor agreement that brought free agency and the salary cap to football. But the agreement worked marvelously because it prevented a strike, showed the players that the owners valued them as partners and left enough incentives on the table for new owners to behave like entrepreneurs--witness the huge success of Daniel Snyder of the Washington Redskins and Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots. In a new collective bargaining agreement signed this March, Tagliabue convinced the owners to increase the amount of money they are going to share with the players and got the league's richer teams to agree to fork over close to $1 billion to their low-revenue rivals over the next six seasons.

Somewhere (was it this forum?) someone was arguing that owning a sports franchise was financially fool-hardy.

Maybe buying a team today would be, but other than the Vikes, I'm pretty sure everyone else on that list has made a hefty sum if they would cash in their chips and sell their team now.

bested by denver yet again. curses!

it was somewhere in the sports section. I made the point that with revenue sharing in the NFL, you have to be an idiot to not turn a profit.

Police say T.O. tried to kill himself

9/27/2006, 10:52 a.m. ET

By JAIME ARON

The Associated Press

DALLAS (AP) — Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens tried to kill himself by overdosing on pain medication, even putting two more pills into his mouth after a friend intervened, according to a police report obtained Wednesday. The report said Owens was asked by rescue workers "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, `Yes.'"

I'm going with the AFC & the Colts. I would like to see Payton Manning get a super bowl ring.

  • Author

I would love to see the city-abandoning Colts suffer eternally - they're the bastards that set events in motion to rob Cleveland of the Browns...but logically, ain't no way the Bears will pull it out.  Well, "any given Sunday" and all that, of course, but you've gotta figure it's the Colts.  Which is further evidence that there is no God.

Da bears!

I voted for the bears, but...............I'd like to see sexy Tony Dungy and P. Manning finally get rings, but I fear Peyton and the Colts will choooooke

Since I was allowed to vote for up to two, I voted for both.

Colts 31 Bears 27 - All though the Bears have a good defense so I'm not sure about the high score.

I pick the baltimore colts to win

You know, originally, the Indianapolis/Baltimore Colts started out as the Dayton Triangles.

So I'm going for the hometown team ;).

LOL, the Triangles?  I'm going with the Colts...  Grossman just can't be trusted.

I think that Baltimore will win, but I'm rooting for the Bears.

Peyton will get his ring. The monkey is off their back, the Colts beat New England.

Uh...

I'm going with Da Bears....mainly because I would HATE to see the Colts win!  I love the tragic stories (the former curse of the bambino....billygoat curse....Dan Marino never winning...Peyton Manning never winning)!

It makes for good drama/storylines!

Yuck!  That sounds like a gay mens slow-pitch softball team!   8-)

Don't diss THE TRIANGLES, Shaker Square.

Triangles, is just so 80s homie-sexual.  :-D  What were the uniforms color?  Hot Pink?

Gonna have to agree with this guy.  The triangles sounds like some 80s metro band, some 80s loser girl band or a very poor sounding minor league team. ;p

Oh and back on topic.  I hope the bears win it cause the Colts have been getting on my nerves.

The difference is that the Dayton Triangles are now extinct.  Shaker Square?  Still ghetto as ever. ;)

The HOSPITAL??  Are you OK?  No wonder why you havent responded to any of my email/voicemail messages.  Your office is covering for you.  You need to tell those two clackers to get it together and stop being so evasive we need to schedule meetings with you!

It is one cool deary rainy day down here. I feel bad for those poor saps that paid thousands to sit in the rain.  :wink2:

They should hold the SB in SoCal, it's warm and it the 70s today.

Actually its about 69, cool for SoFlo standards.

SoFlo... lol... I like

Better, despite being infected with some virus that I wouldn't even wish on ANYONE.  Fainting a couple of times, that caused me to bruising a couple ribs.  Then after going to the ER, and treated like total crap, being released with a explanation, "you only have the flu" and to rest, only to end up back in the same hospital with synthetic blend sheets, god awful food (luckily I only had to eat the food one day, since I was unconscious for two days) :-(,  then being accused, rather told, I have no insurance coverage to pay, having $150 & my sneakers stolen, for it then to top it off theytell the guy I'm sort of seeing that he can't see me because he's not family...mind you he's the person that brought me to the hospital.

I'm not contagious anymore so I've been cleared to fly.  I'm leaving tomorrow, so that I can go to my doctor at the clinic.  People you have no idea how bad health care is outside of Cleveland.  We take for granted how good Cleveland clinic and university hospitals really is.

Now about my assistants, they aren't "clackers" they did as I instructed.  DP is the only person that needed to know what was up.  I don't think I'll be back to New York until at least Thursday or Friday, but I'll have one of the "clackers" set up something.

I've been here in LA since the 21 of Jan, I don't recall being here that long in the past and I realize just how fucked up this place is.
