He's not retiring. His "ankle injury" may earn for him another $3 million per year guaranteed and up to $7 million above his existing contract if he achieves the incentives.

Memo to Jets Cornerback Darrelle Revis: Holdouts don't earn for you a better contract; a "bad ankle" does.

Shouldnt this be in the general NFL thread. Also, the laugh is on us as the JETS have won a game this season.

Why yes, it should be moved here. And unlike the Browns, the Jets have done more than win a game this season -- they have won a Super Bowl in my lifetime.

Not in my lifetime.  So therefore it's Browns 4, Jets 1 as far as I'm concerned (pre-birth). :)

Well that didn't last long.  C'mon Bengals, don't pass up the chance to have OchoCinco, T.O. and Moss on the same team!

Vikings waive Randy Moss

Look out Tennessee!  Here comes Randy!  The Titans claimed Randy Moss off waivers today.

The problem is not the receivers.

That's not the point.  An opportunity like that only comes along once in a generation and the Bengals blew it.  But if you convince Michael Irvin to come out of retirement... all will be forgiven.

Question is, do I play that d-bag this week or not......

EDIT:  Oh wait, the Titans have a bye week this week.  Well that makes that decision easy!

Dallas Cowboys fire coach Wade Phillips

Updated: November 8, 2010, 3:17 PM ET

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones fired coach Wade Phillips on Monday, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Ed Werder.

The move comes less than a year after he was given a two-year contract extension for leading the Cowboys to their first playoff win in over a decade.  He will be replaced by offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, the sources said.

The end for Phillips came after a 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night extended Dallas' losing streak to five games as the Cowboys -- which began the season with Super Bowl expectations -- fell to 1-7 overall.

A loss tonight and Marvin is next.

Honestly I dont want to root for either, but if the Bungles win, it's keeps the Squealers closer to the Browns.

That Cowboys loss last night was more embarrassing than anything the Bengals have done this year, and I honestly mean that in the best way.  I'm rooting against the Steelers tonight.  The Browns will be next to last in the division if either win so i'd rather see them move closer to the top.

Congrats to Jason Garrett, the new coach of the Cowboy and Cleveland Heights native!  I met him and his brother Judd, when their "non-famous" brother Jim was my coach in high school.  Really nice family.  Add another branch to the NEO coaching tree.

So was that Braylon's "Dazzle" on display last night on MNF?

Actually, I falling asleep and  didn't see too much of the game. However it seemed that everytime I woke up the Pats had the ball. So I really don't know how he played. I didn't realize that the JETS have only beaten 500 or below teams.

Other NFL news, McDaniels is ousted in Denver as headcoach. I didn't see that coming. ;D Holgren should send him a nice fruit basket or something for the Hillis/Quinn trade to cheer him up.

McDaniels was in over his head.  He'll be a good offensive coordinator somewhere.

I'll take McDaniels as our offensive coordinator and fire Dumbbal.  He's not going to get a better opportunity than that.  NEO roots is always a good thing.  He was simply too green to be an NFL head coach, but I think he will make one helluva coordinator.

In Minneapolis, the Metrodome roof collapsed this morning from heavy snowfall.  The Vikings home game today with the Giants was postponed and moved to Detroit's Ford Field tomorrow.  The roof collapse was caught in some amazing video.  Below is a low-res version posted on YouTube.  FoxSports has the original high-res video here.

Yeah, no surprises there. I'm wondering what the Bengals roster will look like next season. There is certainly going to be some "house cleaning" within the Bengals organization during the off-season. Marvin is also probably out the door being that his contract is up after this season. He's a nice guy and all, but IMO, he SHOULD get the boot since he could not formulate a productive team. Given the talent on the team, the Bengals should have been 8-8 at the absolute worst this season.

Go Eagles!!!

Did anybody else catch Braylon Edwards cartwheel to a backflip at the end of the Pats-Jets game? Stay classy!

Yeah, I was hoping he would land it. And did you see all the jets players put there arms up and pretend like they were flying? The worst part was that after the game they did that circling the patriots. And Rex Ryan running into the endzone to celebrate a touchdown before the game ended? I was thinking about rooting for the Jets against the Steelers but thats impossible, I hate the Jets to much, so unfortunately, since nothing worked out the way I hoped, Im rooting for the Steelers to beat the Jets.

I was watching it and caught it out of the side of my eye, and my intial thought was, who is that D-bag. Oh wait number 17. Shocked. I missed his TD was it anything special?

If I remember correctly he did that after they did the final kneel down to win the game

It's who he is, I can't blame him. It's show boaty but he just can't contain his razzle or whatever he called it.  I'd be pretty damn excited if my team just beat the Pats in the playoffs too. I think he is in a good place there. All they need him to do is draw coverage on every play and make a couple of catches a game. Holmes takes a lot of pressure off of him to perform consistantly that he had here in Cleveland to be a true number 1 reciever, well that and the Jets running game. For example, yesterday he had 2 catches for 50 yards, 1 TD and one incomplete where he miffed his route.

Although it would have been funny if the clock hadn't expired when he did it and drew an unsportsman like penalty ala the Dwaayne Rudd helmet toss...

I can't fault them, everyone was saying how handily the Jets were going to lose to the Pats (Hoge excepted). I'm biased, though, as I hate the Pats as much as a Browns fan hates the Steelers. I only hope this loss gnaws on Brady for the rest of the offseason, causing premature baldness, and he starts 2011-12 with a bald tonsure and a bad case of spastic colon.

How's this for a post game interview

Bring on the Steelers!!

We have a friend who is obsessed with the Patriots, which has made us hate them, so all I have to say about that game last night is, "Bahahahahahahaha."  And, I guess Braylon Edwards is still a douche, even if I'm glad overall that the Jets won.

^^ Spastic colon. Nice touch. How about an irritable prostate too? As a balding man, I am jealous as hell of that head of hair. I wouldn't wish that falling out on anyone. I am kind of indifferent to the Pats and I guess I was rooting against the Jets more than for the Pats.

^Braylon is still a douche though, even if it's impressive as hell that someone that size can do those flips. I wasn't defending him by the way. Just stating what I  objectively thought.

As somebody said on WFNY today the best possible outcome for two of the four games (Jets/Pats, Squealers/Ratbirds) this weekend if you were a Browns fan was for a meteor to crash into the field vaporizing both teams. But that didn't happen..

Heading out for Cincy right now. See everybody on Wednesday.

Here is why the Jets lost: Who would want to catch or run with a football handled by Mark "Snot Nose" Sanchez?

Mark Sanchez Picks Nose, Wipes Booger On Mark Brunell's Jacket

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

Reminds me of this classic from Major League.

"And if the ump are watchin' me real close, I just rub a little cayenne pepper up my nose and get it runnin' real good"

"You put snot on the ball?"

"Yep. Gets me another 3-4 inches of drop on my sinker."

Heh.  The mister saw that on TV when it happened.  I was looking away at the time.  He was like "I swear he just asked Sanchez if he wiped a booger on him!"

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl?

The Poll closes at 12:15 PM on Sunday and at that time results of the poll, will be available. :P

Hey, it's in Dallas.....you gotta have a cliffhanger!

Only 10 people voted, but looks like we all want the packers to win!

Al-Qaeda or even zombie Nazi's could put together a football team, and I'd root for them against the Steelers.

GB is the ideal sports team. Small city = tight community. Consistently winning team. Public, non-profit ownership. Who can dislike the Packers?

oops missed this. Obviously I was for the Packers...

Only 10 people voted, but looks like we all want the packers to win!

How does 60 percent constitute "all"?

And I didn't see the poll until now. Had I seen it in time, I would have voted for Pittsburgh. In fact, I was tempted to drive to Pittsburgh today to watch the game from a sports bar there. But as a Cleveland sports fan, I didn't want to get blamed for "poisoning" the city's sports fortunes by my very presence. So I stayed back in C-town. Good thing too!

To me, Pittsburgh is Cleveland's brother city. Our economic destiny may be more closely tied to it than to any of Ohio's comparably sized cities. And I always enjoy visiting there. I'd seriously consider moving to the 'Burgh too but I'd be afraid of jinxing their sports teams! ;)

I think the Pirates could use some jinxing..

BTW - Between the botched national anthem, all those people getting screwed out of seats, and the abomination of a halftime performance....outside of the actual game, does anyone else think that Dallas put on one of the worse Super Bowl productions in recent memory?

It was 32 degrees and snowing in Arlington, between that and the monsoon in Miami a few years back, tell me again why they can't just rotate the Superbowl through the various NFL Franchise locations????

Pittsburgh is a great city, like it more then Green Bay, but there is no way in hell you'd see me rooting for the Steelers, unless it was against a team I hated more, like the Cowboys, Jets, or Giants. Sports are different for me, and for sports, I hate Pittsburgh.

^agreed, it was my favorite for the game too.

I voted for Pittsburgh because the poll was "who do you think will win" not "who do you want to win". I'm glad I was wrong.
