This thread shows the Town of Alamosa (Population around 10,000), Adams State College and some mountain photos around the San Luis Valley along highway 160. All photos were taken around September 21st. The Town of Alamosa is home to Adams State College, the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad and a redeveloping downtown. Hope you enjoy.

I went out to Alamosa in 1996 when I visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park.  Thanks for the memories!

Thanks for the pics, seems like a nice town and a pretty area. I did think it was pretty neat that the football stadium had dorms(assuming) with balconies connected to the stadium so students can sit on the balconies and watch the games. Definitely one way to increase capacity at your stadium. Adams State has also been somewhat of a cross country powerhouse over the years in division 2. A good friend of mine from high school went there on a cc scholarship and then ran in the olympic trials. That's my useless knowledge for the day. :)

Excellent photo tour. I knew about the railroad, but didn't know anything else about the town; it looks like it has a lot of charm, and it will be good if the town and the railroad can create a synergy by drawing visitors who will do more than take a train ride and move on, spending more than a day and spending some money. The campus is visually interesting, and the scenic shots are gorgeous.
