October 2, 201113 yr Wow! Huge, ornate homes mixed with older, classy apt. buildings--a great residential mix. I especially loved many of the ornate front window treatments in the homes; I can only imagine what these residences look like on the inside, especially during the holidays. Thank you for some great pictures!

October 4, 201113 yr Some really beautiful homes! Where in Cleveland is this...near Shaker Square? Looks like a great neighborhood.
October 4, 201113 yr ^No. This neighborhood is about 2 to three miles North/Northwest of Shaker Square, about four to five miles Directly East of Downtown and about a mile north of the Cleveland Clinic. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Superior Avenue are major thoroughfares.
October 4, 201113 yr Wow, beautiful neighborhood! I am slightly embarassed that I had no idea there are houses like this in Glenville.
October 4, 201113 yr Some really beautiful homes! Where in Cleveland is this...near Shaker Square? Looks like a great neighborhood. From what I remember visiting there a couple weeks ago, these homes are mostly in two specific locations: Most of the homes are clustered within 2 areas of Glenville: 1 being an area roughly bounded to the North by Parkgate, the west by East blvd, the east, e99th, and east blvd to the south (near tanner ave) http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=41.52667&lon=-81.62231&zoom=17&layers=M the other area would be http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=41.5174198150635&lon=-81.6110801696777&zoom=16 roughly, Lee to the north, magnolia to the south, 111th to the east, 105th to the west.
October 4, 201113 yr This is where Glenville is location vis-a-vis other Cleveland neighborhoods: http://www.nhlink.net/maps/ The best part about this map is that you click on each neighborhood name and see details of a neighborhood's boundary and what streets and features are included. October 4, 201113 yr Wow, beautiful neighborhood! I am slightly embarrassed that I had no idea there are houses like this in Glenville. thats a huge problem about Cleveland. Many great neighborhoods with great housing stock but because people say things like "the eastside is in ruins" or form / regurgitate wrong opinions about neighborhoods, people dont know what we have. All they hear or promote is OC, Tremont, DS. Another prime example of this is Chinatown/Asian Village.
October 5, 201113 yr I grew up here and this is still an awesome area. Some areas of Glenville are challenged while other areas are flourishing and always have...same is true of OC, DS, Tremont, etc. It's all in how an area is portrayed in the media and thus in people's minds. I'm hopeful that the work Greater UCI is doing iwill continue to spill into the Glenville community, which really should be a bedroom community for UC, which is right next door. Anyway awesome post!!

Most of my fathers family lives in Glenville. It's a beautiful community.
October 6, 201113 yr I think you can tell a lot about an neighborhood by looking at the landscaping. A lot of these houses have some excellent landscaping. Most people would expect the whole neighborhood to be a rundown ghetto. These pictures show that is not the case.

I love this housing stock.... while most of the revitalization goes into places you mention, many spots in this area cry out for adoption...some of the best housing stock of its kind ever produced. It simply cannot be allowed to go to waste. The materials will never be replaced ever again. They were built to last and obviously for long term or raising a family, etc.
