Yeah, it looks rather sterile, but maybe that's just a primer coat.

Doesn't look to be a primer coat based on the fact that there is no protective paper/plastic covering any of the windows, trim or moulding. That looks to be the finished color.

I don't think it looks awful.  Might be brighter during the day, but if they turn the lights down in the evening could still pull off the cozy, classic vibe that we all loved in the old hotel lobby/bar area.

Just curious, has that inner courtyard with the skylight above always been part of the Renaissance and its predecessor flags?

It's been there as long as I remember, going back to the 80's.

I believe it was created as part of the Art Modell renovation.  That was probably the early 80s.  Maybe late 70s

^Wikipedia says 1978.

Here are some additional renderings from Booking.com showing the 2024 renovation.

Thanks. I think it looks fantastic.

very excited to have the hotel cleveland sign back up on the roof and to see what that looks like for real instead of old photos. that is really going to be amazing for public square. did they say — or any guesses — when that will go up?

Is there any info on when the Hotel Cleveland renovation will be completed?  Also, how are things progressing with the Fidelity Hotel on E 6th and Delta Hotel on Euclid in midtown?

Hopefully they give the outside a nice cleaning with a pressure washer or something after they're done! Looks like it could use a bath!

Until they close Euclid Ave for god knows why during Public Square events. Then you can't park in the beacon to get to your apartment because E6th has been 1 way for years.

IMG_1848.thumb.jpeg.f550d1ba36900ba51f3c939f3ed4f379.jpegHard to see any progress, but the crane and people were definitely very active.

It looks like the northern façade looks much cleaner, too!

excellent pics btw !!

I can hardly wait to see the Bedrock development down on the riverfront - the areas close to the river are slowly transforming and the possibilities are very exciting for the future.

As others have said, so much character in the area and hopefully, as more attractive new developments are built along/near the river, it will give Cleveland yet another new and interesting

perspective for visitors and residents alike.

Anyone know if the Dream Hotel is still going to happen?

The Midtown site for Dream is off the table... They are looking at alternative sites. All I can say for now

Is downtown an option they are looking at? Perhaps the Magellan site next to SHW or the future lakefront development are good options

I had heard this as a rumor several years ago, long before the midtown site was ever mentioned.

I never really understood the midtown site for such a big, new construction project. It seems occupancy and room rates have rebounded post covid. I think Cleveland’s definitely in need for some fresh hotel options.

I recently stayed in a newer hotel in Detroit’s Corktown (a trendy neighborhood next to downtown) and it was nice but I just thought about Cleveland’s near west side has so much more to offer. It seems like nothing can get off the ground here. Voss hotel plans are off, Westinghouse, Hulett, Bridgeworks all seem paused. Heck I’d argue you could make Intro phase2 a premium hotel and it’d be filled.

Would make sense that Dream is looking at Rockefeller for a better location. Shallow building depth on the wings would be better suited for hotel rooms over apartments anyway.

I thought Dream was planning a new build vs re-purposing an existing building.

Does anyone know what the status is of The W Hotel at Erieview Tower?

W is closing on their financing. Should be an announcement in the next few months

Yeah I’ll believe that one when I see it. Don’t know what’s more likely, Cleveland gets its first 5 star hotel or Kassouf goes to the slammer.

Glad to hear it. The Dream and W are fantastic additions to Cleveland’s hotel offerings.

I’ll get excited when/if Cleveland gets a JW Marriott. I stayed at one in Nara, Japan and it may be the best hotel experience I’ve had, and not just because it was in Japan. I was in Houston last week for work and their JW Marriott is gorgeous as well, as is the one here in LA.

I would have thought a hotel between downtown and Cleveland Clinc/University Circle was a no-brainer.

^The old Sheraton across Euclid, in Midtown, is in limbo too.

Which hotel brand is considered more luxurious between Dream and W?

And @zbaris87if Dream is actively looking at three sites, can we all at least get excited and expect a new build is coming?

There's a group that's bringing a massive 5 star hotel to Cleveland in the very near future. We don't currently have the brand in Cleveland, but it will be an absolute total game changer

will this be located in a reno of something? or new build, like next to sw hq?

Is this is a separate group from Dream and W? And like @mrnycasked, new build or reno?

Just something I noticed - probably not breaking news lol

The 5 stars we don't have that immediately come to mind are Waldorf Astoria, St. Regis, Park Hyatt

Fingers crossed!

It's a 5 star hotel, but none of the ones you mentioned above

this one actually becomes more likely now that the chatwals are not involved.

the troubled/partyboy/playboy chatwal son in charge would never have pulled off the midtown version. which is a shame, because it would be very cool, but anyway on the upside of course hyatt are much bigger hotel biz professionals, so thats good.

if hyatt does follow thru with a dream hotel in cle, i wonder where it would go?

@zbaris87does "very near future" mean there can be a groundbreaking this year?

I would think so if they plan on opening in 2026.

@zbaris87when you say massive do you mean the reputation of the hotel company is massive or do you mean the size of the building will be massive?

I wish they would take the route of mixing a hotel and condos within the same building (top floors condos/lower hotel).  I was reading an article about Detroit's downtown and there are projects like that there.  Who knows, maybe DG has something in the works sooner than later here in Cleveland.

Mandarin Oriental?

Montage?

I can already hear the rap lyrics about Cleveland hotels!
