I just read the newer reviews through my Marriott Bonvoy app and they are not good.  The consensus is that the renovation looks nice, but nothing in the rooms work (curtains, plugs, showers, air conditioning,) the staff isn’t well trained in appearance or service (the service is indifferent/rude,) parking is a huge issue and overall it’s not worth it. That’s unfortunate, as it is a nice renovation.

^ How can all this stuff not work?? Who's in charge of the reno? It's one thing to get staff up to speed - that's always problematic in the service industry. But making sure new things work...that should be handled before any signoffs. What exactly is the Marriott managment doing then?

Is there a projected opening date?  I'm planning to be in CLE in October and would like to try Fidelity.

It was supposed to be Fall 2024, but the link below says Winter 2025.

It's been quite awhile since I've been in this area at night, does anyone know if they have the building lit up similarly to their renderings?

Thought the new post might be the “skyline changing hotel”. Or is that still a supposed secret.?

You're not going to hear about the skyline changing hotel for at least a year, but its coming

I feel the same.

Speaking of pipe dreams, whatever happened to the Dream Hotel?  I checked their website and it says "Dream Cleveland coming soon - 2026".  If so, shouldn't we be seeing some activity at the site?

Depends on the site. 😉

Seems like a good guess to me. I'll go a step further and guess the location.

The Dream Hotel in midtown is no more. Its now down to a choice between 3 different sites, all downtown

^ Dream Hotel always seemed like more of a central business district kind of place to me. IMO, it's the kind of hotel for young people who want to move around on foot in a vibrant downtown area.

I know you don't like to spill the beans prematurely given your position, but is this proposed Dream the skyline altering hotel you have been hinting at?  Again I understand if you cannot say.

No, the Dream Hotel is not the Skyline changing hotel. Totally separate

I think I know what the skyline changing hotel will be.

Well, if that’s the case, there are possibly a hell of a lot of new hotel rooms being proposed. This alleged skyline changing hotel, this possible Dream hotel and the W at Erieview. Blaine Griffin is going to have a heart attack. He is already questioning whether Cleveland is over hoteled. It is one of his signature lines in committee.

LOL, I have an original idea for Bedrock, a Casino, in the purple structure under the hotel.

Looks great!   Any update on the exterior sign facing PS?

I wish the exterior was architecturally enhanced with lighting during the evening hours.  The other feature that I wish was saved was the fountain which had adorned the lobby

^ yeah, i am kinda yin yang on the fountain, i liked it and hoped they would keep it, but overall the modernized tradeoff here looks to be well worth getting rid of it. now if only they would put up the hotel cleveland sign like we had hoped.

I’m not sure. Judging from just visual, I’d say inside 3 months.

While I love how compact this street is (it's my favorite street from an urban nerd perspective) parking is pretty terrible and that's important for a hotel. How does the parking work with this?

There are literally two parking decks within a stones throw from this building. Are you talking street parking?

As far as non hotel guests yes I was talking about street parking for people. As far as the hotel I would assume that they would have to make deals with those parking operators so I was curious if they made deals with them or if people would have to pay on their own dime. (I don't stay downtown when I travel to cities, I drive into the cities from my hotel).

In my experience, urban hotels charge for parking even if they have their own garage, so I would guess a guest would have to pay for their own parking at an off site garage even if the hotel has an arrangement with it for guest parking.

They will probably do what most of the upscale/boutique urban hotels are doing, especially with their location on a smaller side street. If you show up in a car, it's valet and $30-50 per night.

Short Vincent is basically all parking garages, and the 515 garage is literally next to it. I’m assuming they’ve made an arrangement with one or more of them.

I stayed at The Beekman last fall and it was so beautiful/charming/fun. On a REALLY tight street in Manhattan so similar flow to this hotel. Happy to see Cleveland keeping these tight streets alive. I will always miss Moriarty's here but the hotel will be great.

PS: The Beekman has an incredible bar, restaurant, etc. within but across the street is an old dive called Nassau Bar with gruff, drunken bartenders who made my Clevelander self feel so welcome + cheap drinks for NYC. Good people.

I've been to the Beekman, too! Back in 2014.

From a couple weeks ago, walking back after the baseball game. How long has this lighting been active? Unless I never noticed, but add some of this to the hotel and this street will pop

So it's been about eight months since the very first time we heard about this Skyline Changing Hotel/Residences building. I know not much can be said currently about the project, we don't even need to know the who, where, when or how...... but is it possible to get the estimated height range of the building? 😃 That's all we need to hold us over 😁

Skyline changing continued: The suspense is killing us all … is it Bedrock riverfront? Bedrock former Nucleus site? Sherwin phase 2? I saw this earlier above is it possible (hotel, residences and casino)?

image.jpeg.7ef090913adbb4e76313c59ff12df42a.jpeg

or a taller version of this (hello central Ohio)

The problem with Bedrock riverfront is that anything built there will not likely be skyline changing due to the lower elevation.  IMO the best location is the former nuCLEus site.  I believe it is now the largest parking crater in CBD, it is shovel ready and it would fill a gap in the skyline between the towers at Public Square and those on E 9th.
