September 27, 2024Sep 27 I wouldn't be surprised if it goes in either the Playhouse Square or Gateway areas. Isn't Gilbert going to do something at the old nuCLEus site?
September 27, 2024Sep 27 I'm hoping it is in the Playhouse Square/Chester area. It would provide balance to a skyline that is very heavy to the west.

I know not much can be said currently about the project, we don't even need to know the who, where, when or how...... but is it possible to get the estimated height range of the building? 😃 That's all we need to hold us over 😁 @zbaris87 @KJP I dont know where it is, but ive already made my reservation

As long as it's not the world's tallest and narrowest tower as in the Towering Info episodes of Second City TV back in its heyday. If you need a good laugh please find the episodes on youtube especially those too young to know (you will recognize many present day actors/comedians and see them in their youth). It also had a nuclear reactor on top with a restaurant on top of that- I'll stop there.
September 28, 2024Sep 28 Most officially announced large projects don't make it to the finish line. That's to say nothing of projects still in the unofficial stage. I don't doubt the info, but the batting average of projects in this stage isn't great. I'd love a skyline changing hotel though, so hopefully this one achieves mixed sports metaphor success!
September 28, 2024Sep 28 If interest rates and. construction costs come way down, then maybe we'll see something happen.

You are absolutely correct that most of them don't make it to the finish line AND around here most of them also don't make it to the starting line.
September 29, 2024Sep 29 i dk about skyline changing height, but the rates dropped and so as long as its a good mix of hotel, long term stays and condo residences its likely something like that will get built.

November 1, 2024Nov 1 Any news about the Delta by Marriott that was going into the abandoned hotel in Midtown?
November 7, 2024Nov 7 Skyline Investments is exiting the hospitality business. A new owner could benefit from the recently completed $90 million updating of the Hotel Cleveland, which took two years to complete at the 491-room property on Public Square. The Hyatt has 293 rooms and an active hotel business in the marble-floored, brass-appointed interior of the Arcade. A new owner also could seek upside by retenanting many empty storefronts on the Arcade's two lower levels. https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/hotel-cleveland-downtown-hyatt-owner-exits-hotel-business

The Arcade photgraphs well in the Instagram post attached to the Akron Beacon story: https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/entertainment/2024/11/01/mauricio-umansky-visiting-cleveland-real-estate-the-agency/75989867007/ https://www.instagram.com/reel/DB1TLyypBa-/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=f35a66fb-2e96-4c3a-9c2b-6ea831063ab4 The firm's website also have a nice aerial shot of Cleveland (without SW though): https://www.theagencyre.com/region/cleveland I don't see Jimmy's Bratenahl house listed (yet)...
November 21, 2024Nov 21 With the Fidelity Hotel wrapping up in the winter 2025 https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2024/11/new-fidelity-hotel-in-downtown-cleveland-is-taking-reservations-sets-opening-date.html I see that there is up to 5 hotels Downtown that are either under construction or in the planning stages. How many of these do you think get built. Under Construction W Hotel - Erieview Tower - Construction stated in early November 2024 Planning Stage Bedrock 17 story Hotel & Entertainment Center ( Shinola ) Medical Mutual Rose Building Boutique Hotel Zbaris's - Skyline Changing Hotel Dream Hotel - Zbaris is working on finding a site. I think that maybe 3 of these get completed. The one's that get started sooner have a chance as eventually there comes a saturation point.
November 21, 2024Nov 21 Well, then we better get that skyline-changing hotel built quickly. Just think of the victory lap that @zbaris87 will be able to take!
November 21, 2024Nov 21 It would be really nice to see a newly constructed hotel rather than converting a vacant office building.
November 22, 2024Nov 22 What's funny is there's 2 skyline changing hotels, and Ken has seen the renderings for the one in the warehouse district.

So I’ll put it here: Two new hotels planned for land across from Cleveland Hopkins airport Published: Nov. 25, 2024, 11:42 a.m. By Susan Glaser, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio – A local development group plans to build two new hotels, along with two restaurants, across Brookpark Road from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Included in the $60 million development: Two new extended-stay hotels, including a 124-room WaterWalk by Wyndham, which would be new to the Cleveland market. The second hotel could be part of the Marriott brand, perhaps a SpringHill Suites, said Richard Marshall, vice president of LaPine Legacy LLC. Construction is likely to start next summer, with completion on the WaterWalk in late 2026 or early 2027. https://www.cleveland.com/travel/2024/11/two-new-hotels-planned-for-land-across-from-cleveland-hopkins-airport.html

November 26, 2024Nov 26 I thought it was strange for a former research lab to be converted to a hotel, but apparently, the Orbit hotel is doing well. It has good reviews. I assume the inside looks nicer than the outside.

I have lived a long time in this town and I would need ten hands for all the necessary fingers if I were to count all the times developers trumpeted a stunning new project with fancy renderings which ended up all being pie in the sky. I know you cannot reveal much, but offering your thoughts on that question should not really spill the beans in anyway in terms of location, principals, size, design etc. To tell you the truth I am glad this is being kept under wraps. If they are still trying to get their ducks in order (with financing and cost containment probably being the two biggest nuts, especially in the current construction environment), I would prefer not to know rather than drool over wonderful renderings and then be disappointed again. More developers should follow this type of game plan, especially if they want to maintain credibility-well at least with Urban Ohio.

November 27, 2024Nov 27 58 minutes ago, GREGinPARMA said: Alright folks, time to daydream! Here is a list of Hyatt collections. We can obviously eliminate the Inclusive Collection So Hyatt already has a Regency downtown, and it's been confirmed the Dream hotel won't be "skyline changing." We can safely rule out the inclusive collection. If we assume they go for a different collection, JdV actually seems quite possible (plenty of mid-size markets, some new-builds, not crazy high-end). A skyline changing hotel would have a lot of rooms, so a mid-tier hotel seems more likely. I think we can rule out the more compact hotels, and Grand Hyatt seems a little too high end. Thompson or Andaz are my other guesses. Quote The Dream Hotel is going to be a new build, but it is not the skyline changing hotel, and neither is the one announced on the riverfront. Curious if anyone has guesses for SCH #2 Edited November 27, 2024Nov 27 by sonisharri

November 27, 2024Nov 27 No. But one of them is influenced by the presence of HQ1. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

November 27, 2024Nov 27 Lots of hotel talk here. Makes me wonder how many of these, particularly those of the skyline changing variety, have other uses involved. I know that's the case with the Rose building and Erieview Tower plans which also have apartment and office elements.

Now, assuming that HQ1 and its environs are not yet fully realised, could this hotel be the one that's ben discussed in the SW thread that would serve as a place to stay for SW employees in Cleveland on business or training? i'de think that the general public would also have access?
