Posted October 9, 201113 yr A fantastic town that more than makes up for a non-interesting State College. In most towns, the courthouse is easily in the top 5 buildings; Bellefonte is an exception
October 9, 201113 yr Excellent, and perfect timing. I'm going to Coolspring Power Museum (Between Brookville and Punxsutawney) this coming weekend and haven't been in Bellefonte in about fifteen years, which was before I fully recognized the photographic potential of small cities and towns. I plan to be in Pennsylvania for a few days, so maybe I'll make it back there.

October 10, 201113 yr Every single time I drive through Bellefonte it's almost surreal. That town is so gorgeous.
October 10, 201113 yr If you're in Bellefonte or State College, worth a nearby side trip is tiny Millheim, a well preserved historic town. The Millheim hotel has good meals and a nice bar in the back. The old tin ceilings and period political memorabilia create a wonderful aura of bygone times. We stayed at the Millheim hotel (upstairs) but the amenities were somewhat spartan. Wonderful view from the upstairs veranda however.
