Hey, several of the Cincinnati mods and myself had a great idea.  We haven't done this in AGES but hey, why not try it on a beautiful Saturday?  We'll be having an UrbanOhio meetup at Fountain Square, 1pm on Saturday.  We'll have UrbanOhio logos on paper for reference and we'll be standing in front of the fountain.  We'll be doing a walking tour of downtown including The Banks and Over-the-Rhine.  Afterwards, we'll get some food and drinks at Nicholson's ( http://nicholsonspub.com/ )!  All are welcome!!!  If you can only come for a bit, just stop on by and put some faces to those posts you always read!  Oh, and bring your cameras (if you have any)!!!  You can RSVP in this thread.

I'll be there, people.  I haven't seen a lot of you guys in ages.  Let's do this thing!

BTW, ColDayMan...love the fact that you still have that sig.  Might have been the brightest thing I ever said...

That sig will be there for eternity.

I dunno.  Right now I'm supposed to get together with someone who I freelance for.  I can try to move it to Sunday.

Hmmm....I work at 4th and Vine at 2:30.  I'll be on the square at 1 but I think I'll have to skip the food and drinks.  See y'all on Saturday!

Definitely sounds fun, but I'll be hundreds of miles away!

I'll be there with my super hi-def cellphone camera! :)

Thank you, THE ColDayMan...that means a lot to me.  I don't really have a legacy, so I guess that's something to hang my hat on.

I was planning on going to Cleveland but that may be cancelled.  If it is, I will be on the Square at 1:00!

UPDATE - I will be there.

Sounds interesting. I've never met any of you, though i've seen jake m. speak. Who should I look for?

^^^...a bunch of nerds with cameras looking up at the buildings.

Matthew Hall, just look for a group of people standing next to the fountain with cameras, talking to each other LOL!!!  Don't be afraid to say "UrbanOhio?"  Chances are, they'll be forumers :).  I may print off one of those nifty UrbanOhio logos and hold it up LOL!!!

I blame Randy

Who doesn't blame Randy? :D

See, that's the problem. This forum's name is too normal. You walk up to strangers and say "Urban Ohio?" to them at Fountain Square and they won't think you are nuts. If the forum was called "Irregular Cheese", then people would get really scared.

Hey, count me in--I'd really like to meet all of you (including several of you who are also active on "City-Data")  However, be forewarned--I don't socialize with COAST'ers.  Just sayin,' heh heh!

So our code word is Irregular Cheese? Brilliant!

Wow, kind of wish I was in town for this, but alas, a short notice and an odd work week involving a 3:30 am to 12 pm shift won't allow for it.

Have a good time guys, hopefully I'll make it to another event!

Whatev. You're one of the granddaddy's around here as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the invite! I'd love to tour Cincy with you all, but I've got plans to be in A2 that day. Another time, for sure.

Thinking about it.  I could probably hop a morning megabus to Cincy.

Chris call me

Damn! Double-Damn!

I am going on a Canal Society of Ohio tour of the Dayton area canal system...this is part of their annual meeting, which is being held in Dayton this year.  Already paid my fee and all.  Its going to be on the 22nd, an all-day affair via bus and on-foot.

I'd would have certainly liked to do this & would have loved to meet y'all.... but maybe next time.  Hope you all have a good meet, and my best wishes to y'all!

So far, 15 people confirmed!  This is great! Let's keep it going up up up!!!

Maybe.  I want to.

It all depends upon when I wake up - I have to work late tonight.  I know I've only just joined the site, but I've been following a few threads in the Southwest Ohio Construction forum for more than two years now.

Come on down!  Hopefully you can get up before 1pm ;).

Too bad I already had other plans. Still waiting for that Hamilton meet, too.

Jeffrey, please let us know how the canal thing turns out. I've known about that group for years. They have some excellent tour guide booklets.

I'll try to make it, but no promises. Lots of school-related stuff on my plate right now.

If you guys get bored of the basin (and survive!), this thing is going on at the American Can factory apartments in Historic Northside Saturday & Sunday.

There's also an ArchiTreks tour Sunday in Scenic Northside via Cinti Preservation Soc

Wish I was still in town, can't wait to get back and see all the progress!  Have a blast and take LOTS of pics for us out-of-towners!

Hope it goes well! I left Cincinnati in 45F weather, with a steady downpour. Currently in 85F Austin, Texas and enjoying the sun :D

Alright I'm coming.  Because of Eastern/Central time difference.  I'm going to have to get up early1

Glad to see we have a good group together!

I wish I could join you, but I must RSVP my regrets. Once again, I must choose being responsible over having a life. Perhaps by the time warm weather returns next Spring/Summer, I will have been absolved of some of my duties and can start having spur-of-the-moment fun. I hope that with the return of warm weather next Spring/Summer the tradition of forum meets can resume; I always enjoyed meeting other forumers and seeing places that I might have missed if touring on my own.

I have fond memories of MayDay's all-encompassing and informative downtown Cleveland tours and ColDay's superb Cincinnati and Dayton walking excursions and 2006 Columbus Death March.

Great time today.  Sorry I had to leave at Senate, but I had a blast after leaving you guys.  Nice meeting the strangers, and I look forward to the pics.  Except ColDayMan's...his photos suck.

I'm guessing it was a success?  I had to split after the Carew, but I enjoyed meeting all of you guys. :drunk:

I'm glad to have met everyone and thanks to ColDayman for organizing. I thought I knew  a lot about downtown, but I learned more. Hope we can do the same in Clifton or some other neighborhood sometime.

I'm disappointed I missed this by one day!  I just landed back in town last night, and I haven't been on the site in a while....I would have loved to attend. What all did you guys do, and does anyone have pics to post?

Hope we can do the same in Clifton or some other neighborhood sometime.

I'll second that.  There is a lot to see here, and it's always changing...

A big thanks to you, ColDayMan, for bringing together a great group of guys who love the Queen City.  For this old man, the only weak link were my two legs--but the walk didn't kill me; it just made me stronger and more appreciative of my beautiful hometown. Take care, all!

Great time meeting everyone!

You were all wonderful sports.  We covered a lot of ground and enjoyed every minute of it.  Let's try to make this monthly!

Thanks guys, I had a great time this weekend.  Just got back to Chicago and starting to upload pics.

Had a great time meeting everyone! Hope to see everyone again at future meet ups and beyond!

Everyone...DIE! It was actually my idea, because I hadn't hung out w/Chris for a long time and I asked his ass if he wanted to get together for an old-time tour! But kidding, it took The ColDayMan to actually make my dream of a get-together come to fruition. Fantastic meeting all of you guys. I wish I could have stayed past a drink at Senate, but I had to go out to a dinner party with my girlfriend in Glendale. I saw chickens in a building that most homeless folk would want. I saw a peacock. There were grape vineyards. A fire pit. Beer. Wine. A pseudo gumbo, pulled pork. Great time.

But I want to know what happened post-Senate.  What the hell did you guys do, was anyone arrested, etc. And no photos yet....

No arrests...umm...yeah...
