Posted January 17, 200619 yr Might as well get this out of the way. Though unfortunately the ColDayMan tour was not possible in good weather, my sister and I were happily still able to get it in the evening the next day. (An apology is due here to RiverViewer, if you're looking at this thread- I declined your invitation to the thing in Cincinnati because I thought I'd be leaving the next day, but I ended up staying an extra day, as it turns out.) It was gloomy, rainy, and getting dark, so this wasn't much of a tour for photography. But we saw quite a lot of places with which we weren't too familiar. So thanks to ColDay for the wonderful tour! I'm looking forward to the Cincy and Columbus tours in the future. Here are the few pictures I got before it was too dark. I hope I'm remembering their locations correctly... St. Anne's Hill Huffman Sometimes I just don't pay enough attention to the photo I'm taking. A parking sign AND a big tree right in front of the brick house?? Oy. Wright-Dunbar And I leave you with this lovely sight. After that it was too dark to take more pictures.
January 17, 200619 yr the potential is there in wright dunbar, and many of the areas around their are looking up...it will be intersting to see that place in 15-20 years time......it should be a pretty large change...
January 17, 200619 yr Wright-Dunbar hasn't been "thriving" since the 70's but atleast it's on its way back. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 18, 200619 yr i love that last house. kind of deco-ish. kind of like that strip as a whole, lots of great stock just waiting for a comeback -- what street is that exactly, looks familar but i am not sure? reminded me of e105th in clev, solid, stuck in suspended animation and awaiting a revival.
January 18, 200619 yr I believe it's Hope Street. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 19, 200619 yr The houses on St. Anne's Hill are magnificent, and every time I see Dayton's trolley buses and catenary I sort of chuckle to my self, in delight. Thanks for tackling the dreary weather.

E 105 really does not look that vacated. Many storefronts are full along E 105, just not with the types of stores I would cater to.
January 20, 200619 yr Hope Street is a good metaphor....quite a bit of the city is on Hope Street. But some nice pix, iconic images of Old Dayton. ...liked the Wright Dunbar one of 3rd...such potential there!
January 20, 200619 yr The houses on St. Anne's Hill are magnificent ...and some of the ones here also have magnificent views, as they are on Dutoit Street, which sits on a rise overlooking downtown.
January 22, 200619 yr They are for the electric buses, such as the one also in that photo. Streetcars without the tracks.
January 27, 200619 yr I LOVE this place! I used to work across the street and I would dream of living in that place while I ran my printing press (it was a terribly boring job). I wouldn't want to have to deal with the junkyard and towing company right next door, though.
