Posted October 24, 201113 yr My friend and I are looking at moving to Ohio City.I have been there once around the bar area, West 25th I believe? But I was wondering how safe it really is, we are two girls in our early 20's. The night I was there it seemed perfectly safe but then again that was just in that little area. I am also looking for suggestions on where actually to live, would you recommend renting a house, or are there any good apartment complexes in the area? Thanks for the help!
October 24, 201113 yr The neighborhood is gentrifying, but i feel really safe there at most hours. You will see petty crimes, so just be careful what you leave in your car, just lock up and be smart and you shouldnt have issues. I would check into Bridge Street/Fulton area. I spend alot of time down there and i think you are making a good choice. Renting is fine, and there are also buildings down there you can rent units in. There are also units at market square, dont know if any are vacant.
October 24, 201113 yr It all depends on your level of comfort. It's all mostly safe but can feel unsafe in certain areas. I think anywhere in the area bounded by Lorain, W. 25, Franklin, and Lorain feels pretty comfortable at all hours.
October 24, 201113 yr ^ West 44th as your western boundary? You said Lorain twice. And if you live near by, you should take another visit. Maybe go check our the West Side Market and then get something to eat after. You could also walk or drive through the neighborhood.
October 25, 201113 yr I looked at Ohio city (and tremont) before moving to Detroit shoreway. In my opinion...... 2 20 something young ladies would be best served in the Fries and Schule building (or something similar) It is a condo building with both Apartment style condos and townhouses. It has secure parking. and is in the heart of the area you frequented while you were there. Directly above Bier Market and across the street from the Market Garden Brewery. ...rather than a house/or 1/2 house that had on street parking (which will be the majority of housing rentals in OC_ If my sister or niece told me they absolutely going to live in OC this is what I would tell them. as a 40 something man I don't have the same concerns that 20 something women have.
