Outside of private investment in cool houses around hocking hills, I don’t see the state doing a ton more. They will probably continue to update stuff but I don’t see them building a ton more lodges or anything. But I could be 100% wrong.
March 7, 20241 yr It is supposed to be some large private sector development. A lot of land changing hands apparently.

March 8, 20241 yr No not that. At least they haven't announced anything. I have been worried about Perry State Forest for one but nothing official has been announced there.
April 3, 20241 yr Found this interesting article from last year. Anyone know more? Ambitious tourism project proposed for county site | | logandaily.com
April 4, 20241 yr Here's the text from the article: LOGAN – A central Ohio philanthropist and hired developer are preparing to take their shot at the ever-growing Hocking Hills tourist industry, carrying with them big dreams and tentative plans for carrying them out. “We wanted to reach out to the community and tell them we’re coming, and about what we’re going to do in your community,” said Jon Willette, owner of the Dublin-based 4 Points Developers. Late last month, he and an employee visited the Hocking County Board of Commissioners in an effort to be transparent and proactive to address the wishes and concerns of local residents. 4 Points, in Willette’s words, handles the “A to Z” of its clients’ construction projects, from management of architects and contractors, design, site selection, obtaining permits, and other issues that arise in the process of a development. Its previous projects – local, regional, and national – include restaurants, retail, schools, animal hospitals, the creative repurposing of shipping containers for commercial and residential use, and more. April 6, 20241 yr That whole article seems like if you asked chat gpt to design a sustainable development. It quickly goes off the rails. Starts with 15 cabins and tree houses and a check-in center, ends with "a radial city and theoretical utopia of sorts" . Something tells me $20-25M doesn't get you utopia.
