Glendale Cemetery - Akron, Ohio

Part 1

Part 2

I would like to say that I took these because I live in Akron now and want to discover parts of the city that I've never seen before, but the truth is I have a site evaluation to complete and I just wanted to share some of the pictures I took on my site visit. Enjoy!

Those steps look fantastic. Just imagine how many man-hours went into those. Also, I am amazed into how much effort people put into constructing headstones. Does anyone still make monuments like those?

Thanks for posting.

Wow, thanks for posting this. I had no clue this cemetery even existed. At first, I thought this was Mt Peace cemetery off Aqueduct, but after viewing a few pics, it became obvious that this is much nicer.

Thanks for giving me something to do next weekend.

Nice

Quite beautiful and well maintained -- and well photographed.

Based on the foliage, Akron looks like it's in a very pretty area.

Thanks everyone!

Republicrats - I didn't know that there is a cemetery off of Aqueduct, I might check that one out too. Also, let us know how your visit to Glendale goes.

MayDay - I believe that the chapel is open, but I'm not sure of the hours. The office is open Monday - Friday from 9am to 3pm and you can call them (330-253-2317) and find out.

C-Dawg - Akron is a very pretty city, the hills and the trees are amazing this time of year.

Fantastic series!

Anyone interested in historic cemeteries might find Cleveland's 1876 Riverside Cemetery worth a visit. It's on Pearl Road (W25th Street) immediately south of I-71. It has some dramatic topography and abundant big, old trees, as well as graves of people who were around in the city's early years.
