I attended DAAP for 6 years and disagree with most of this post.

Not trying to argue but these are things I've seen with my own eyes. Picking out the unattractive girl in the class and singling her out as looking the most in need of love in front of 50 other people to get a laugh is incredibly unprofessional. Telling the fat kid in a class that he looks like the one that would benefit the most out of coupons for free food is unprofessional. Using his access to student email accounts to send out mass emails to further his political agenda is unprofessional. Telling a group of girls that they don't belong in the shop because women don't get proper safety is sexist and unprofessional. Stating that he never goes back on his word, saying he'll for sure give out 'pot' plants, then going back on his word is unprofessional in several ways. The guy is classless and about as far away from an asset to the school as one can get. If these are things that I've seen with my own eyes I can only imagine how often this kind of thing happens when I don't see it.

I just think lots of people hate the guy because of his politics and look for excuses to attack his character.  It’s college; there are plenty of “unprofessional” professors, adjuncts, etc.  that make offensive jokes in front of classes or have atypical methods of doing things, in general.  Berns just has a sense of humor that may be abrasive to some with weak skin.

Edit: Never mind, not worth potentially causing an argument. Ignore this post.

The Charter committee's website has a biography of Qualls, and Yvette Simpson, under the "City Hall" webpage.  Not sure where you are getting that it "doesn't mention Qualls."

Okay you got me on that one, I missed the City Hall tab. My original point is that I am confused by the Charter Committee and its relationship with Qualls. In the article you posted, it mentions that she has concerns about who they are endorsing for council. Yet she is not a board member and "is running as a Democrat." As I have stated before, there is no doubt that Qualls is a true Democrat. I just find the Charter thing odd and have yet to hear a real explanation.

Incredible. I love that she exists. My biggest problem with that entire video is that it was in 2011 and they couldn't figure out how incredibly tacky those shiny streamers are!

Speaking of her: Who is Sandra Queen Noble?

She’s run for Congress in Washington D.C. and for Mayor of Los Angeles. She’s even run for president of the United States. Now Sandra Queen Noble is taking a second stab at Mayor of Cincinnati.

The perennial local candidate lost her last two runs in Cincinnati; getting 0.2 percent of the vote in the 2005 mayoral primary and finishing last in the 2011 Cincinnati City Council election.

But other than her past runs for office, little is known about the woman who refers to herself as “a queen innately” with “the ability and the will to go right straight to England, put Queen Elizabeth in check.”

She refused to answer questions posed by the Enquirer on seven separate occasions.

This is when I wish Longview was still open and operating.  SQN needs to be a resident.

Who has voted early yet? If you're downtown go to the BOE on Broadway to the second floor and vote! Took me 6 minutes in and out. Fundraising and momentum will all depend on the winner of the primary. Super easy, do it!

If you consider Mr. Bungle more progressive than Yes.

Chris bortz has come out and supported John Cranley

Not like it means anything. He lives in Batavia

So Chris Bortz, who was the face of the streetcar project circa 2007, has aligned himself with Cranley.

I think when Qualls came back to politics, she was first endorsed by the Charterites.  (I could be wrong on this.)  I think the main thing is that once Tarbell and Bortz exited the stage, there haven't been any true Charter candidates with a chance of winning--so the party started "cross-endorsing" candidates from the Democrats (Simpson and Qualls).  If I was a Charterite, I'd be concerned with the latest endorsement of numerous Dems and Repubs--at some point it would seem less like a third party and more like an interest group just endorsing candidates from the two main parties.

I don't know if I will even bother

Bortz is a Republican in Mt Adams. (via BOE)

Google streetview of his place is pretty funny

Why???  Winning the primary is INCREDIBLY important for Qualls.  If Cranley wins by 2-3 points fundraising dollars will pour in for him by republicans who see him as having a viable shot to win.  If Roxanne wins by 4-6 points people will tell Cranley to pack it up. and big business donors will swing towards roxanne because people like to back a winner.

Everyone on here who cars about urban progress SHOULD GO VOTE in the primary.  To not is beyond foolish.

So...Bortz is going after Wenstrup's seat?

^That article says he lives in Mt. Adams.

Doh.  Completely misread it.  Thanks for the correction.  His vote counts

Bortz doesn't like Qualls.  Like the vast majority of local politics, it is personal.

If Bortz tries to run as a Republican (which he is) in the 2nd district, he is going to get crushed.  You've got to have real anti-abortion credentials to win as a Republican out there.

If he runs as a Democrat, his anti-Obama past isn't going to help him.

I just received this forward from a friend up in Michigan. Why would Cranley be soliciting funds from Flint, MI? I apologize if the formatting is all messed up, I'm on mobile.

Dear Friends,

One of the most exciting aspects of my job as Flint mayor is working with other local elected officials who are coming up with innovative solutions and tackling tough problems in their home communities. I guess I feel a special kinship with other leaders who are committed to service despite all the pressures, criticisms and sacrifices that come with this line of work.

This is why I have to tell you about what my good friend John Cranley is doing in Cincinnati. John is one of the reasons I sought an elected position myself. I saw him put himself on the line in a challenging congressional race back in 2000 in which he came up short, but instead of stopping there he ran successfully for a Cincinnati City Council seat. John was a strong leader who focused on jobs, safety, neighborhoods and youth. I learned a good deal from his experience in local government before I made my own run for Flint mayor.

Now, John is running for Cincinnati mayor in an open non-partisan primary since the incumbent is term-limited. John has a powerful platform that addresses economic development, equity, and inclusion. I know he would guide Cincinnati, one of the great American cities, to greater prosperity.

John’s election is less than a month away and early voting has already started. I wanted to send this note out so that you have the opportunity to join me in showing support. The website is www.johncranley.com. You can give online, register to get campaign updates, and read up on his plan.

Please make a contribution and help John advance to the general election.  He is working on putting together his final media push so every dollar counts. Go to www.johncranley.com and you will be inspired by what he is doing to create opportunities for the next generation of Cincinnati’s kids. Please give whatever you can.

Oh no, now somebody's gotta call Micheal Moore.

about 10% of his contributions were from out of town & out of state in his last financial statements. I don't know what average should be.

Is this the new normal? I can see think tanks and national groups getting somewhat involved to push an agenda, but soliciting funds from regular Joes for a mayoral race? That doesn't make sense. Then again, raising $1M for a council seat doesn't make sense to me either.

It’s all about people buying friends with their donations.  I think Cranley thinks he can eventually earn a higher office, so someone in Michigan might invest in him hoping to get favors back should he ever hold office at the national level – if he does, the mayor of Flint is due for a favor.  Same thing with Sittenfield, his family’s wealthy friends were investing hoping he gets to a higher office eventually and throws a few kickbacks their way.

Berns is complaining that the local media is killing his campaign chances. Says they should be applauding his courage.

It's interesting - in 2 policy polls the Fishwarp did, Noble scored better than Berns.

Trolls - people from places like Reddit find Noble amusing and keep voting for her.  I wouldn't be surprised if some of the idiots actually cast a ballot for her in the primary.  I could understand voting for Berns as he is at least affiliated with the Libertarian Party, but Noble literally seems mentally challenged.

:-)

Has everyone on here already voted in the Primary?  If roxanne loses the primary by more than 1-2 points then she may be finished in the general.  Cranley will see money POURING his way if he wins the primary by a 3+ point margin.  Roxanne's money will dry up.

GO VOTE AT THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS.

Cranley is responding to everything in the comment section of the attack ad article

Oh no, that sounds like the ironic vote-casting phenomenon I fear that indicates the existence of self-absorbed people that think casing an ironic vote is hilarious.

Berns is getting really annoying.  He hasn't brought anything more substantive to this campaign than Noble has.  Playing the marijuana card over and over again has turned into something of a franchise for independent candidates in states where it hasn't yet been legalized.

Is this a joke? Seriously... Bern's talking about himself in third person, and Cranley pretending the City has money to splash all over the place.  100million (Streetcar) sounds like a big number but its not, filing potholes is damn expensive and if that is what this election is coming down to I fear for the future of Cincinnati.

Omg that's amazing.

Oh, and everything you read above most definitely was in Sunday's print edition.

Noble supporters speak the expletive up

Three reasons why Sandra Queen Noble has my vote for the (expletive) mayoral race.

1. Of the candidates, she is the only one who admits she doesn’t understand the problems, or have any (expletive) solutions.

2. Her name is Queen; she owns the (expletive) city already.

3. She speaks my (expletive) language.
