Lit up at night you would see it from most angles of the city. A new landmark. My original impression from earlier renderings was that of a sperm whale, and I wanted a jet of water into the air feature at the front end. The Cleveland Clinic square could be one eye, and you can imagine the gaping mouth below. Edited October 4, 2024Oct 4 by urb-a-saurus

Why not since Cleveland had to endure the famous Johnny Carson joke: “What’s the difference between Cleveland and the Titanic? Cleveland has a better orchestra.” Now we can have both. October 10, 2024Oct 10 While this technically doesn't matter since it's outside of the scope being discussed, I find it interesting that the massing at W3rd and Stones Levee has changed between the two most recent design review meetings. Previous: Most recent: Again, this is out of scope, so it technically doesn't matter, but the easiest thing would have been to copy/paste, leaving this massing unchanged. For some reason, someone gave this some thought. Maybe that means something is coming sooner than later, or maybe it means absolutely nothing. They could just be acknowledging the current parking lot, it could be a planned plaza, there are infinite explanations, like I said it's interesting, and if this isn't the place to post random speculation, where is?

My understanding is that they are placeholder designs, but it isn't normal to bring in an internationally recognizer architect for placeholder designs, so it isn't obvious that they are. My hope is for these buildings to be beautiful. Let's build the kind of buildings we want to see reflected in big box buildings, not more big boxes, glassy or otherwise. There's lots of great inspiration to draw from surrounding buildings, like Terminal Tower and the Landmark Office Complex, let's draw from those beauties, and add beauty to our city!

Careful, if you find a good one available you better buy it on the spot. Registrars comb through every search and buy up the best ones before anyone else can. I learned this the hard way. Between the lakefront, riverfront, Burke, Irishtown Bend, W 25th projects, PHSQ/Greyhound, Warehouse District/Courthouse projects, and everything else that's already planned or basically necessary: the "urban core" is on a trajectory to become seriously impressive in the next decade or two. With interest rates coming down I'm betting there's even more to come than we expect. I'm aware this is basically what people have been saying for years, but it really seems like we've begun a generational shift that has taken on a different attitude toward cities. Ive written as much in other threads and I cant write it enough. Being the "old" man on this blog, i remember when all of the above would have been considered a pipe dream - dismissed as nothing but fantasy. I remember W25th in the 70's. Prospect Ave and more. I know im in the minority here but im ok with the stadium going to BP and even the use of count/state money to help get it done. It will re develop a much needed area and free the city from having to offer any money that could be used for lakefront development. Downtown will thrive nevertheless. And as far a stagnancy is concerned, we'v already seen data from Census Bureau that population may be beginning to rebound. Ok, rant over!

If the County can't build new in the Pit this may not be a bad alternative for spin-off effect alone!
