thrifty visitors to nyc will love that it is turning into the 'decent, cheap new hotel' district.

I used to hang out around there quite a bit.  I like to think of that Citi Tower as the EiffelTower of Queens, a lot of the roads seem to be on axis with it accidentally, and you can see it from all over the place.

This is true, it's where I stayed when I was in NYC for spring break.

I have also stayed in LIC during trips to NYC. I think this area will continue to boom due to its proximity to Manhattan and subway service. I'm actually surprised it remained fairly undeveloped for so long.
