January 12, 201213 yr .. Nürnberger Bratwurst .. Nürnberger Bratwürste are sausages with an individual weight of 20-25 g and a length of around 8 cm. The Nürnberger Rostbratwurst is first documented in 1313. This means that the Nürnberger Rostbratwurst can only be produced in the city of Nürnberg.

January 12, 201213 yr That old town was all but flattened during WWII. What you are seeing are reconstructions. My ma's childhood memories of this old town was piles of rubble after the war. The 19th century neighborhoods (say areas of OTR vintage) surrounding the (formerly) historic core were hit, too, but mostly survived My grandmother was born in Nuremberg, in the St Lorenz parish or district in the old town. My great-granmother lived into her 90s, but lived just north & east of the castle in one of those 19th century neighborhoods, when I knew her. I've been to Nurnberg a number of times, and have a small collection of Lebkuchen tins and boxes, from the famous Christmas cookie. The city has or used to have a toy industry, so sort of appropriate for a Christmas market. They also had some heavy industry, too, like machine tools, etc. MAN ...Maschinfabrik Augusburg Nurnberg...was a big employer. I think they even had a foundry or rolling mill...the Luitpoldhutte...

January 13, 201213 yr historic core were hit, too, but mostly survived.. .. you are absolutely right ... here are some pictures from this area , called Weissgerber-Street, it`s down-town in the oldest part of Nürnberg ..
January 13, 201213 yr .. sorry .. in Nürnberg everything goes slowly ... old "yellow-cabs" with two big horses are the only vehicles in Nürnberg .. .
January 13, 201213 yr if you know or have a guess -- what do the 'real' historic buildings on weissgerber date from? love the market tchotchkes pics -- very striking shots.
January 13, 201213 yr Those arent really cabs but post coaches. Note the post-horn logo on the sides. Yellow and black are the colors of the German post office.
January 14, 201213 yr -- what do the 'real' historic buildings on weissgerber date from? .. in the official castle papers it says , that the buildings in this street "Weissgerber-Street" were indeed build in 1564 as the inscription on one of the building says .. ... this was before the discovery of America ... :-) :-)
January 14, 201213 yr Awesome and beautiful, your Nuremberg pictures, Cinncinnatus--truly a Christmas fairyland! Thanks! (Yes, I'm also aware that virtually all of Germany's cities--except for Heidelberg--were obliterated during WWII, and that much of what we think of as "medieval" is actually construction completed after 1945 that mimics the original buildings--and I am terribly sorry.)
January 26, 201213 yr ...... for all very smart Users .... why is this statue located in the old town of Nürnberg germany .. is there anyone who knows this ....   ..
January 26, 201213 yr Albrecht Dürer was from Nuremberg. He had a famous painting of a hare. I suspect there's a connection. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Hare

I thought Munich was pretty authentic; esp the central square and the Glockenspiel.
May 18, 201213 yr .. lol .. lol .. lo... ... your are a "drinker" ?? .. :drunk: .. .. .. .. # LUSH # ... it`s one of the biggest shopping mall for cosmetic in germany .. with shopping malls in each big city in Germany .. http://www.lush-shop.de/shops_24.html
May 18, 201213 yr "Lush" is old-fashioned English slang for an alcoholic in addition to its regular definition which is appropriate for a cosmetics store. Germans probably don't think of that. Sorta like when English speakers see a Back Factory in Germany and think that it's a chiropractor's office rather than a bakery.
