January 4, 201213 yr Nice photos although it's too damn cold to be out there! ha ha! I did these the week of Christmas, not today (or yesterday)! Although by the time I was done my hands were freezing. The wind up there really starts wearing you down. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
January 4, 201213 yr Thank you for these! They're beautiful, and they awakened memories of time spent there twenty years ago with a dear friend.

January 5, 201213 yr Nice!!! But Don you forgot this pic.... that's so funny. I actually almost posted a youtube video of that group, but thought at the last minute it would be going too far. Plus, nobody except a handful of people here would remember them! I believe the lead singer, Johnny Maestro, died last year. The oldies station in NY--WCBS FM--of course made a big deal out of that especially since he was from Brooklyn (he did have a great voice). However, I finally did a search on the picture of the sticker "Voices in Your Head University of Chicago" and discovered it's an a cappella group with a really interesting sound. One of the members even boasts of "tagging the Bklyn Bridge" on a recent tour-- http://voicesinyourhead.org/ http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
January 5, 201213 yr Ha ha. Yeah, Johnny M. was huge on the east coast oldies circuit. Growing up in the "senior belt" of the Jersey Shore, Mr. Maestro was a frequent visitor to my town. I imagine he must have had quite the cut throat rivalry with the Duprees! Again, most excellent pics.

January 5, 201213 yr Beautiful set. What's the significance of the locks, if any (or is it the bridge equivalent of sneakers on power lines?)
January 5, 201213 yr Beautiful set. What's the significance of the locks, if any (or is it the bridge equivalent of sneakers on power lines?) They are "locks of love". People are suppose to write their names on the locks and toss the key into the river.
January 5, 201213 yr ^I don't think those locks stay there too long though. None of the dates I noticed on any of them were that old. I guess when the maintenance people saw them off and discard them the relationship must also be over--lol. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

I guess when the maintenance people saw them off and discard them the relationship must also be over--lol. This fad started about 3 years ago and is based on some Italian movie. My best friend and his partner have lock up there.
