Posted January 13, 201213 yr Map & chart of state budget cuts by county. Really needs populations thrown in, but.... http://innovationohio.org/featured/map-of-budget-cuts-by-county
January 13, 201213 yr Dang. Cuyahoga got hammered. Nearly 2x the total cuts of Hamilton. The fact that Cuyahoga is larger and any population loss would have accounted for only a fraction of that difference. What justifies the rest?
January 13, 201213 yr Cuyahoga loses $229 mil, while Franklin loses $174 mil and Hamilton loses $135 mil. If this doesn't force some cities to consolidate services at the very least, I don't think anything will.

Clevelander17 was on to something. Cleveland is probably getting screwed over by Columbus (the state capitol). We needed these numbers. Comparing Lucas and Montgomery's population, Lucas got shafted too. Summit also shows slightly outsized cuts. Political payback? Montgomery is the largest of the second-tier urban counties, but its cuts don't reflect that.
January 13, 201213 yr ^Maybe. But what was mentioned upthread about the overabundance of political subdivisions may have hurt us in a way that had been helping us disproportionately on the whole in the past. Just a guess.

How do you figure it supports Clevelender when the Columbus area had the 2nd highest cuts, both by total metro and county? If anything, Cincinnati wins.
January 14, 201213 yr ^CDM's alter ego? I'm starting to get suspicious... Not going to answer the question then?

Columbus probably had the second highest since a lot of those Statehouse Republicans' supporters from surrounding counties hate the City of Columbus.
January 15, 201213 yr ^CDM's alter ego? I'm starting to get suspicious... I know you people north are paranoid but uhhh...no. Sorry, there's only one (and there's only going to be one) ColDayMan. January 15, 201213 yr Remember that State of Erie thread that got locked? Sure do. And if this thread turns into another Cleveland vs Columbus bashfest, I won't hesitate to close it either.
