Big front-page piece in the Youngstown Vindicator on the advances made in downtown, but the lack of marketing that is taking place to drive even more people to this portion of town. Great read by Karl Henkel, check it out:

Good stuff!

I really think the mentality here in Youngstown needs to change, in the suburbs that is.  Marketing really would help Youngstown, but I think this is an Ohio problem.  I can only imagine how much better off Cleveland and Cincinnati would be if they marketed themselves better.

Great story.  Sounds like they have all the right ideas.  I'm glad they're talking about drawing people from outside the area too.  Many would be surprised at how big it is.  The skyline is retro with some iconic features, luxurious for a city this size.  There's your branding.

Downtown has been coming around for the past 3-5 years. In the past year, a few new restaurants have opened with V2 and Roberto's, both Italian joints right across the street from each other and both are doing very well! The apartments in the Erie Terminal are exciting as well! The apartments in the Realty Building are sold out after they decreased the rent to a more manageable $1,000-1,200/month.

Great downtown pictures from the past few months:

Thanks for bringing this link our way, YtownNewsandViews--considering how much bad news that we, elsewhere in Ohio, have viewed about Youngstown, this is some very good news!  Please--more pix, when available!

Wow, that looks really lively.  I have to get down there to check it out again, soon.

Work continues to progress on the Erie Terminal downtown. These are being converted into apartments geared toward younger professionals and YSU students:
