Cleveland: University Circle: Centric Development (formerly Intesa)

KJP. how does that gray vertical siding on the second level look in person?  From the photo it looks sort of cheap.  I imagine it is the same siding as that above it but it looks worse on the second level to my eye.

My critiques of architecture seldom concern the artistic features (color, style, etc) of developments, but rather their density, pedestrian accessibility, physical placement and how they relate to the street. So I don't really care how they look because there is no right or wrong with regards to style or color. But there is a right or wrong when it comes how a development's design can uplift or detract from its surroundings economically and in terms of happenstance social engagement. Sure, I have my opinions of art (ie: this building doesn't do anything for me artistically) but I love how it relates to the street, the Rapid station and will likely create lots of pedestrian activity.

And I think it will prompt people to look across Mayfield Road and say to University Hospitals -- um, what are you guys going to do with that parking lot??

Drove by yesterday and there's a sign in one of the first-floor retail units advertising the Tremont Athletic Club's opening there this fall.

This building feels huge as is but I'm curious as to what the street presence would've been before the major cutbacks.

Anyone know how leasing is going at Centric??

I was looking at Centric, but it was hard to pull the trigger when one-bedrooms start at $1430/mo. Instead, my fiance' and I are moving into a two-bedroom at The Standard for the same price. Because of it's proximity to Case, I would imagine the leasing comes in waves, with most people starting in the summer.

Yea this feels more like they dropped the ball on advertising to Case Western students during the summer.

I wonder when that mural was made because it still shows bowling at Uptown. Amazing mural nonetheless.

Centric to add ground-floor office tenant

Two years after opening, the mixed-use Centric development in Cleveland's University Circle will build out its office space for a new tenant. The move comes as office users worldwide are taking a hard look at their office space needs.

The tenant, according to permit applications submitted last week to the city, appears to be Midwest Development Parters and Five Forty Investments LP. The two companies share a number of executives and functions, namely real estate development and investment. The tenant will fill a 9,130-square-foot, ground-floor space at the southwest corner of Centric, 11601 Mayfield Rd.
