August 24, 20195 yr The Ticketmaster I usually went to in Columbus was at Buzzard's Nest Records on South Hamilton Road. Then Ticketmaster signed a deal with Kroger in another one of those deals where everything you need to do moves into a big box store to "make it more convenient for you". In reality makes it less since you wind up having to trek to a big box store 5 days a week to accomplish things you used to be able take care of at the corner store or in some tiny strip mall where you could just pull up to the business you needed and go in without having to walk across a giant boring lot then having to dodge all those cars that insist on driving right in front of the entrance through a million old ladies.
August 24, 20195 yr Do you think those Ticketron people were Ticketron employees or employees of the store? The whole thing was pretty mysterious. It used some sort of proprietary modem, I'm guessing. I seem to recall going to one with my mom when I was fairly young and the system being "down".
August 24, 20195 yr I remember Buzzard's Nest had a separate counter for Ticketmaster but I figure demand would be too up and down to keep someone from the company there at all times.

You would think that they would keep the US Bank Arena name until they were ready to announce a new name, or announce an interim name (Riverfront Colosseum, AEG Arena) if there will be a gap before a new deal is signed. The Chicago Fire and Toyota ended their sponsorship agreement after the 2017 season. Their stadium was still named Toyota Park for all of 2018 because renaming the stadium would have been more expensive than just giving Toyota the free advertising.

The deal had been over for over a year now. Same situation with Chicago Fire and Toyota Park. It would have cost much more to rebrand it until another sponsor was found. It stayed US Bank Arena for that purpose even though US Bank was no longer paying for the rights. The plan was to find another sponsor but to date, no body has wanted to pay the sponsorship rights. After a year + USBank has required to have their name off the arena.

How does this hurt the arena if nobody wishes to sponsor the arena? Does this hurt the ownership group of the arena financially in any way the longer no sponsor shows up?
August 26, 20195 yr The hurt is the loss of a $300k revenue stream to the building which was the annual cost of the naming rights from what I remembered. I also believe the arena needs to pay to have the signage removed and rebranded. Rebranding more than once will be an additional cost too. Also, the longer it goes without a main sponsor, the harder it will be to get a new one at the prices they are looking to demand. Someone will eventually sponsor it for the right price. While the arena is a dump, it is prime real estate with visibility of over 100k vehicle traffic daily, Plus office workers, and anyone else downtown, that alone makes it worth something. The events in the arena are secondary to the location. Now, the arena itself is a bit of a detriment, but the location and visibility make it worth something.
August 26, 20195 yr Wonder how long until the arena needs to remove the US Bank brand from its website and social media.

October 30, 20195 yr I heard that they were close to making a deal with a national company for naming rights but couldn’t make it work. At this rate, it’ll end up being named after a local car dealership. Maybe McClusky Arena.

November 4, 20195 yr Whelp, the great mystery is over. I guess it will be branded with the tree logo but there are quite a few Heritage Banks out there. I wish it was the over the top gold scroll logo tbh. Edited November 4, 20195 yr by SleepyLeroy
November 4, 20195 yr It's very odd that a mostly Kentucky-based bank with zero branches inside the City of Cincinnati is sponsoring the arena in Cincinnati. Although they do have two Ohio locations, in Montgomery and Mason. Also, fun fact: former WKRC anchor Rob Braun recently became the spokesman for Heritage Bank.

November 4, 20195 yr U.S. Bank Arena gets new name Cincinnati’s riverfront venue formerly known as U.S. Bank Arena has a new identity. Heritage Bank has signed on to be the new naming sponsor of the venue, which will now be called Heritage Bank Center. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Heritage Bank chairman Chris Caddell said the bank is invested in the region and bringing a variety of events to the center. For starters, Cher announced Monday that she will be bringing her tour to the newly named center on April 7. The value in the arena naming rights has to do with its location. Having a branding presence on the interstate where you essentially get a billboard at the most prominent location in the city. The events that take place in the arena are secondary.
