The exterior turned out fantastic, with one exception.

That canopy is atrocious. Trying to color match to the stone didn't work and doesn't work in general. They should have just let it be something new and entirely different like with the new canopy on the Kimpton or the canopy on the Renaissance in Downtown Cincinnati.

But other than that this building cleaned up so nicely. Glad to see it being put to productive use.

Agree.  Same with the sign.... Why even try to match?  Just use a different material.

Exactly. If you aren't going to throw enough money at it to get a proper match, do something different. Either method works well. Doing a sloppy "match" though never does.

I don't think it looks bad...the lines match and color is similar. It seriously could've been a lot worse.

I realize the architects here will have a more critical view, but from a layman's perspective, the canopy and sign look fine. I think they work well with the building.

My biggest problem is that there's natural variation to the stone on the building and painting cast concrete the average of all those variations just winds up looking sort of cheap and flat. The actual design is nothing amazing, but isn't offensive either. It's mostly the material/color that's the problem in my mind.

Cleveland beige at its finest

I'm usually pretty critical of architecture, but I don't really see a problem with the canopy. I haven't seen it up close, but I walk past that building almost everyday and from the sidewalk it blends pretty well. Besides, the rest of the building is so nice that most peoples' eyes will not be drawn to the canopy.

I agree.

A rare instance where I don't mind a lawn.

I'm really liking most everything I'm seeing with the Drury... As for the canopy, its color and size are not problems for me.  Luxury hotels almost always have canopies shielding the main drop-off driveway entrance.  The only regret I have with the Drury canopy is that it masks the beautiful arches and their relief sculptures above the 3 entrance doors... But I guess there was no workable alternative.

^^ That roof looks absolutely beautiful.

An odd choice for the decorative lamp posts surrounding the property.
