Posted April 19, 201213 yr I did a search for this but was unable to find anything on the forum. I went to school in DC and stayed here after graduating, so have been here about five years. I always run into people from Cleveland around DC and recently stumbled upon http://clevelandclub.org. The site isn't very good and I'm not sure if it's still something that's active, but was hoping that there might be some other DC Clevelanders on the forum that might be able to shed some light on this. Would be nice to have an organization to connect all of us living down here in the nation's capital.
April 19, 201213 yr Hey GA_Lancer, yes its scary how many of us there are here. I have made connections usually when I see an indians hat etc.. Always the nicest people here, I think because when they realize you from back home they then let their DC gaurd down. I remember being involved with this a bit after I moved here, but lost track of the past few years. I know a while back the Cleveland Bridgebuilders held a great event here (not sure if they still exist), but otherwise havent seen anything for some time other that things like the Ohio State Club etc... Would be interested in being involved though... I know there are others on the forum, lets see what they know.
May 13, 201213 yr I wanted to mention, for the Cleveland ex-pats in DC, there is an event tomorrow night. "As part of the Leadership Cleveland program, 60+ Cleveland leaders will be in Washington DC on May 14th. They have set aside some time to meet with 20-30 something ex-Clevelanders to 1) Let them know what a dynamic place Cleveland has become for young professionals and 2) provide a networking opportunity for those who may be thinking of returning to live and work in northeast Ohio. There is a link below to the flyer, but the location has changed at the last minute, so here is the correct info. (The location on the flyer is NOT correct) New Location: 800 17th Street NW Building lobby entrances on both H Street and 17th Street. 12th Floor. Washington DC 20006 I suggest taking the time to RSVP as they will cut off attendance based upon room capacity." You’re invited! We hope you’ll join us for the DC area Cleveland Boomerang Reception - Monday May 14 5:15pm – 6:30pm @ PNC Corcoran Branch (1503 Pennsylvania Ave). Visit here for all the details. Free to all DC area Young Professionals (25-40). Join over 60 of Cleveland’s corporate and civic leaders to hear about exciting developments in Downtown Cleveland (Horseshoe Casino, Medical Mart & Convention Center, Museum of Contemporary Art, Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Local Food movement, and more!) Plus the inside scoop on current job opportunities. For more information or to RSVP please contact: Emily Sullivan, 216-592-2289, [email protected]. Drinks and Hors d'oeuvres will be served. https://www.cleveleads.org/document.doc?id=941&erid=398426
June 11, 201411 yr For anyone living in the DC area, I hope you can make it to Global Cleveland's DC talent attraction kick off party at the National Press Club on June 26th. It will be a great opportunity to connect with other native Clevelanders living here in the nation's capital and to hear about all the great things happening in Cleveland (which all of us on here know about already of course). It's free, you just have to sign up here: http://globalcleveland.org/2-uncategorised/153-global-cleveland-kickoff-event. Should be a good time!
