March 28, 20241 yr Miles Park fire this morning... I am still confused as to how the roof slid off the top before the fire. It was one of the more unique churches that I've photographed.
March 28, 20241 yr Heartbreaking when we lose these significant structures. Nothing like it will ever be built again.
March 28, 20241 yr So many beautiful old churches in Cleveland have been destroyed by fire over the years. St Agnes on Euclid at E 80th and St Joseph on Woodland are two that come to mind. I'm sure there were others. Edited March 28, 20241 yr by LibertyBlvd
March 28, 20241 yr Looks like the windows weren't salvaged either. Just unfathomable amounts of wasted craft and materials.
March 28, 20241 yr Still here. I was shooting with the drone about 1 PM when it rekindled and had to pull back while they put out new hotspots. Crews are working to turn off utilities and such. I suspect an emergency demolition will be done very soon. I'm passing through en route from New York to upstate Michigan. I stayed overnight outside of Cleveland and got a ping on a feed I follow for fires. I came down around 8:30 AM and sent the drone up - keeping a far distance from first responders and shooting with the tele. I'll post up some new shots in a few. Edited March 28, 20241 yr by seicer
March 28, 20241 yr I haven't edited my photos from last year's visit, but here are some iPhone photos. The columns had shifted, which I suspected had destabilized the roof, leading to it sliding off into the street.
March 28, 20241 yr Thanks for the photos! water intrusion did it in. Was certainly salvageable at one point, just no economic return for doing so.
April 8, 20241 yr South Carolina fans making use of the Arcade to celebrate their Final Four victory.
April 10, 20241 yr Nice write up by the photographer (article doesn’t seem to be paywalls): https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2024/04/how-i-captured-my-total-solar-eclipse-terminal-tower-photo-david-petkiewicz.html When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
May 5, 20241 yr Finally upgraded my camera's lens from the standard kit piece - took it over to Lake View Cemetery to take her for a spin. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 5, 20241 yr @MayDay Sweet pics, but OH NO! Some competitor will see these and try to hire you away from UO. The Board should step in to pre-empt what could be a nasty bidding war. 🤞

November 26, 2024Nov 26 Author Unenhanced sunrise view from my condo balcony yesterday morning. Not sure how many more of these were gonna have. We're considering buying a house. Anyone want a 2-bedroom condo that's within walking distance of many stores, restaurants and 24-hour transit?? January 15Jan 15 I noticed how phase 2 of Hudson Yards in NYC was looking Jetson-ian and also vaguely familiar.

If they had been cold idled it's doubtful they would have ever been brought back, and this area would be a blight instead of an economic engine.

We can do a drone tour of Bethlehem Steel just outside of Buffalo and see what that looks like. Truly sad.
