I became aware of this Downtown Photo Scavenger Hunt (http://photos.clevelandphoto.org/) organized by the Cleveland Photographic Society (http://www.clevelandphoto.org/). It is a really neat idea. They release particular architectural details and you must located them and then replicate the shot with your own photo.

It is free to sign up, but you need to do so before you can get to the PDF file with all the images on a sheet to print. However, the scrolling images are actual photos from the contest to find downtown.

It goes from March to November, so you've got all summer! Supposedly lots of prizes to be announced.

Is anyone else participating? I have joined, printed out the images, walked downtown, and located many (it is really hard!), but I haven't taken any photos yet to submit.

I joined, but have not taken any pics yet either.  I plan to, but we will see if I actually do it.  They do look pretty hard.

Looks like fun, I recognize 20 or so at first glance.

Contest sounds pretty cool. I'm surprised more UO'ers haven't mentioned this yet !

A friend and I went out [on our bicycles] on Thursday evening for the first time for about an hour and found and submitted 7 of them (only one of them ended up being mis-identified) in the flats/northwest area of the map. The ones of statues are easier to identify than the buildings. There was also one that I swore I knew where it was and couldn't find it after looking for 10-15 minutes.

50 of the 125 photos still haven't been released yet, so I had taken some notes for ones that would be good candidates for the other 50. :p

Can't wait for the others to be released  !

I am a member of the club and am participating.  Between a friend of mine and myself, we have 51 of 75.  It is a lot of fun and I'm really becoming familiar with all the buildings within the map zone.  I just need the time to take the pictures and submit.  I've only submitted 22 so far.

A hint is to look for as many as you can through Google street views (which can be very addicting).  Mark them on a map and then when downtown, you can just go from spot to spot taking your pictures.

Still waiting for the app for my phone :(

Anyone else do this ?

I'm up to about 97 or so. Spent a few summer evenings on my bike looking for these with friends and found quite a few initially but the last few trips were fruitless. Been busy with other things, so for the first time in a month or so, I went out yesterday and to my surprise, found 3 more.

Overall, I like exploring and it was fun. (Without spoiling the answers too much, I'm surprised how few are indoors, only 2 come to mind). Some of these were quite difficult and/or extremely small (the size of your hand for example) :wtf:

It also reminded me how much of a power washing the trust company building needs !  :whip:

^I am doing this also and have found 124 out of 125.  But the one remaining hasn't been found by anyone else either.  It is fun, addicting and challenging.  It has certainly opened me up to interesting details that exist in Cleveland.  There are three indoors by the way.  I can give you some hints if you want to message me.

I signed up for this but never started.  I meant to do it.....

I'm still waiting for the promised phone app.
