The constituent emirates are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. The capital is Abu Dhabi, which is also the state's center of political, industrial, and cultural activities.

May 18, 201213 yr The first image in this thread reminds me of Chesley Bonestell paintings (illustrator who specialized in outer space scenes in the 1950s.) The lens flare fits well, IMO.

I'm very familiar with the country, and what is going on in Abu Dhabi and Dubai but we call it United Arab Emirates, here. Please don't undermine my intelligence by pointing out to me, your geographical factoids, given to 4th graders. I've never heard anyone refer to it as "Saudi Arabien Emirates", that's all.

I can't wait to see what it looks like when the novelty wears off and especially when oil is obsolete.

May 19, 201213 yr We need to spend more money on space exploration. Colonize and create resources on other planets, take advantage of harnessing energy in outer-space and sending it back down here in radio waves. It's the only way the U.S. economy will continue to grow exponentially and be on top; be independent when it comes to energy. Solar energy is what, 5x more powerful in outer-space without our damn atmosphere being in the way?
May 19, 201213 yr .. on the otherside ... directly oppersite of the tallest building in Dubai .. there is the "Address Hotel" ..
May 19, 201213 yr It's the only way the U.S. economy will continue to grow exponentially and be on top; be independent when it comes to energy. .. but the US is bankrupt right now ..
May 19, 201213 yr There are many countries with far worse GDP to debt ratios. Our debt is manageable. It's precisely this attitude that induces economic crashes. Credit is nothing more than the confidence someone has in you.
May 19, 201213 yr I guess when you photograph something massive enough, it starts to look more like an illustration. That's what I keep seeing in these photos. Dubai looks more like a CGI simulation than a real city.
May 19, 201213 yr Colonize and create resources on other planets, take advantage of harnessing energy in outer-space and sending it back down here in radio waves. Top story: Santa Barbara. Ten thousand acres of wooded residential land were scorched in an instant when a laser canon aboard the Strategic Defense Peace Platform misfired today during routine tests. It was a day of mourning for the families of people known dead at this hour. Among them, two former U.S. presidents who had retired in the Santa Barbara area. A day of mourning for a country. - Robocop Sorry for hijacking, mods. I absolutely could not resist. :-)
June 4, 201213 yr Man, I feel like a cold drink after looking at those photos. I'll be seeing this eventually. My firm operates an offic in Abu Dhabi, but I've never seen Dubai. There's regular charter buses between Abu Dhabi and Dubai so getting around isn't much of an issue. But the cost of going up in the tower is outrageously expensive.....and people complain about the Skydeck price here in chicago lol.
June 4, 201213 yr ^^ With all that density, there is not much traffic! I wish I could say it's because of their state of the art rail system...though I'm sure it gets decent ridership. You can actually see the Red Line passing by on the right side of the photo.
July 8, 201212 yr sorry ...... fore booking this tent .. it`s very easy ... http://www.burjalarabhotel.net/
