Hello fellow UO'ers,

I'll be making the trek up to Columbus for Pride weekend to meet some friends from Cleveland. It also happens to be one of the guys birthdays that weekend as well. Just wanting some thoughts here on places to go for a nice reunion dinner on Friday night. We're staying downtown by the Capitol for Pride on Saturday, but will cab it or drive for dinner if need be.

We like trendier, upscale restaurants. Places with good people watching and a cool, energetic atmosphere. Open to any/all types of food. We'd like to be able to make rezzies since it will likely be a larger group of people.

I'd prefer to avoid places that are trendy for the sake of being trendy but have unremarkable food if you know what I mean. We're all kind of foodies...

So fire away! Let me know your suggestions and thanks in advance!  :-)

Anything north of Nationwide Boulevard and south of 5th along High Street is good (Hubbard Grill, Haiku, etc).  For something out-of-the-ordinary-but-awesome, try Basi in the Victorian Village. Barcelona in the German Village is also a good place.  Any specific kind of food?

What is a rezzie?

What is a rezzie?

I would imagine a reservation?-given it is a restaurant and they are a group. Some of these abbreviated 'words' are ok-others, not so much.

Till would be great for foodies and it's just a few blocks west of N High..

ha ha -- yeah that is foodie-speak for reservation! of course you have to be careful here as being "not so much" something will also get this exchange firmly pegged into the 'tweens era' too.

on that note, is rigsby's still around and is it still....amazing?

When I go to CBus on business, I usually stop here for lunch - http://flatironcolumbus.com/ - nothing fancy, but I got nothing else for ya.  Kind of on the outskirts of downtown.  It's convenient for me because it is on the way back to the highway from where I go 90% of the time I am in town.

Jury Room--a pretty small italian place downtown, great food

Haiku is verrrrry good--asian food in the short north

Basi Italia is also very good--italian food in the heart of victorian village

Milestone 229!!!!--AMAZING new restaurant, right on the river downtown--prolly my favorite new restaurant downtown, overlooking a park with fantastic fountains

Due Amici is another great italian place downtown--on gay street, prolly the most lively street downtown at night

good luck!

I'm pretty plugged in to Cincinnati's food scene, but if I ever hear anyone use the word "rezzie" I might have to smack them!

I won't smack you though, Mcadrenaline. You get a free pass.

I recommend marcella's in short north.  The food is decent, it's always packed (read: great people watching), and they're great at accommodating groups.  Have fun!
