Posted May 20, 201213 yr My sisters friend is trying to get married in two weeks (her husband is going over seas after) and they want to have a dinner for a group around thirty. My sister asked me to try to think of a restaurant in lakewood or cleveland which would have a room for something like this. I think they want mid-range prices. I don't know this person so I don't really have much to go on (which is why i am giving you so little to work with), but any help at all would be appreciated.
May 20, 201213 yr Really, many places offer this. Right off I know Crop, Dante and Cowell and Hubbard all have private dining areas. These may not be considered "mid range", but I think RNR may have some good recomendations as well.
May 20, 201213 yr Deagan's Kitchen may block off the room on the east side of the restaurant, which should hold about 30.
May 21, 201213 yr Doesn't Jammy Buggars on Detroit have a private room? Never been in it but it looks nice from the lobby...would say they are mid range in price and the food is pretty good...they seem pretty creative for the price so maybe the owner can suggest something special not usually on the menu.
May 21, 201213 yr I believe there is a party room at Sweetwater's Landing - the small restaurant at the boat launch ramp in the Rocky River Metropark. I have no idea what kind of catering they do.
May 21, 201213 yr Massimo's at the corner of Detroit & 25th has a nice party room and does very nice dinners. Close to downtown also for hotels & such.
May 29, 201213 yr Sorry, just seeing this. Try the private event space at the Cleveland Chop House. That might be good for your group. I also think Sammy's at the Huntington would be a good choice. Nice views, and Sammy's is pretty good for catering. Hyde Park Steakhouse downtown has 1 room that could seat the group and they do not require a room rental fee, which is unusual for downtown. The Sweetwater Landing space is expensive as you have to rent the space AND bring in a caterer. It's not cheap. I looked into it for my wedding (which was small - 50 people). Reinberger Homestead at the zoo is a beautiful space for a wedding, we almost rented it ourselves. However, it is not super cheap (it was around $800 to rent 8 years ago, IIRC), there is no place for a band so no dancing (which is what knocked it out for us), but you can have a nice steel drum band playing for ambient music, and you have to pay for renta-cops, 1 per every 20 or 25 guests, and they weren't cheap either. It's the big, Victorian style Australian farmhouse in the Australian exhibit.
May 29, 201213 yr Oh, and you have to use Aramark for the Reinberger. Their food is "meh," but the setting is really cute.
May 29, 201213 yr You can also do a buyout of Spice, in Gordon-Square. Their food is good and 50 would fit in there perfectly. And I'm pretty sure Lolita has a private room on the 2nd floor you can rent.
May 29, 201213 yr House of Blues has a side room off the restaurant that would fit that size group nicely. They have their regular menu, plus a catering menu.
