September 8, 20213 yr If we're worried that the lakefront will erode all the way to Lake Ave due to climate change, it's probably best for all if we run this bike trail down the center of Clifton Blvd in the exising right of way.

Or they could just let that portion of the lakefront erode; maybe the owners change their minds when they realize they're literally losing land due to their own ignorance.

A self-storage facility is worse than non-productive for a Rapid station because it's almost impossible to get rid of. It's like a cancer. Now here's an opportunity to make it more difficult for her to stay in business. Deny this building application on the basis that a residential unit is not permitted in a General Industry area. December 13, 20213 yr I'm told that, even though this area is within the NW Neighborhoods service area, Westown runs point on projects in Ward 11. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 13, 20213 yr @Boomerang_Brianit's a bit of a confusing situation. NWN considers all of the area within the Cudell and Edgewater borders to be "service area" in the sense that residents and stakeholders in the neighborhoods qualify for things such as running for the board, since these are their neighborhoods regardless of the arbitrary ward boundaries. This is a policy that was formed under Cudell Improvement. However, all of Ward 11 is also still Westown's territory, so Westown is really the CDC with "authority" on matters within the Ward 11 boundaries. They try to work together (such as the dual CDC involvement on the West Blvd/Detroit road diet study), so writing to both orgs about this development can't hurt. Just keep in mind that NWN can only do so much without stepping into Westown's lane. Ideally this weird Ward 11 section will go away when ward boundaries are redrawn. February 14, 20223 yr I have never been too fond of the location of Jacobs Pavilion, wedged in tightly against the Powerhouse and the B&O bridge. I was hoping it might eventually move to another location in the Flats.
February 14, 20223 yr Quote ^ Oh hell no! Jacobs Pavilion is one of the best places to see a concert anywhere. It's in the Flats, ON THE RIVER. When the concerts over you can mosey on over to the bars and restuarants What more do you want? At the moment there is even plenty of nearby parking (hope that's gone in the future). And from the Warehouse House district that white canopy looks really cool. What's not to like?

February 24, 20223 yr Really hope this happens, and that is leases/sells well enough to spur more development. There is a ton of land in this triangle between Lake, W78th and and train tracks. Interesting to see this labeled as Cudell as it's east of Lake Ave, and close to Battery Park. I'm sure the developers will use Gordon Square or Edgewater, or some new made-up neighborhood name to promote it :)

The W80s block club also calls their specific micro-neighborhood "Edgewater Parke"

Not that I'm opposed to high rises, I'm not. But 5-10 stories is perfect.

April 6, 20223 yr Bravo! If the desired appearance is to replicate the now demolished CMHA Woodhill Homes of the 1940s, then these new garden-less garden-style units facing Detroit are a resounding success. (Woodhill may have had a better landscape architect, but they did some things differently back then.) This new concept shows no hint of *trees between the street and the sidewalk. - Harsh! Can someone explain the image of a ghost-tree* over the roofs of the townhouses? It's clear to me that no *tree will ever grow there, and especially not a glorious *tree of that size and shape. It's kind of a fraud that the proposal image would have any hint of a *tree there. I guess it's to fool folk who only give these images a passing glance and to give viewers an impression that this building facade offers anything but the lowest possible design quality & site planning, along the Lake Ave frontage. *The Forest City 🌳👻 Edited April 7, 20223 yr by ExPatClevGuy grammar / syntax
