Posted June 8, 201213 yr Hey all, I'm relocating back to Cincy with my girlfriend, and am planning on living near 7th and Race (we both wanted to live in OTR, but we can't find anything available between mid-July and early August). Does anyone know the area/has lived nearby? What should I be expecting? Also, any thoughts/word on 107 Shillito Place as an apartment complex? Thanks, 2LiveCarew
June 8, 201213 yr Are you referencing Garfield Tower Apartments building specifically or another building in the 7th/Race area? The location is great and Piatt Park right there is really quite nice. Kind of a quieter area of downtown but still very walk-able to FS, the Banks and of course OTR as well.
June 8, 201213 yr Nah, 107 Shillito Place is the name of an apartment complex (Garfield Tower is a bit north of it, I think--I looked at it at one point). http://www.shillitoplace.com/home.htm
June 8, 201213 yr A friend of mine lived in that building and I always thought he had a great place. Seems like good people live in the building. Convenient access to walgreens, the blue whisp, right next door to the Cincinnati Athletic Club.
June 8, 201213 yr Don't know much about Shillito Place either way, but do stay away from Garfield Tower Apartments. I've heard nothing but horror stories from several people who lived there. I guess they have some serious management and cost-cutting problems there. I have a friend that lives in a newly-remodeled unit at Lytle Tower on the other side of DT (NOT One Lytle Place) and really enjoys it http://rookwoodproperties.com/residential/properties/lytle-tower/ Also try calling Urban Sites...don't go off their website, it's not always updated http://urbansites.net/ I also think I passed along the number of the guy who leased my apartment but it sounds like he might not have anything.
June 8, 201213 yr I took a tour of Shillito when my girlfriend and I were apartment hunting. The units are smaller, but the community amenities are outstanding - including a fitness center, several community rooms (one of which can be reserved for events), and access to the pool at the Gramercy (or the other one across the street).
June 8, 201213 yr ^ Are you referring to the lofts at shillito place? I don't think Towne Properties owns or manages 107 Shillito, which would mean no access to the amenities at the Towne Properties managed buildings.
June 11, 201213 yr I have a friend who lives in Shiletto and they love it. I have been there several times to hang out and was impressed by what I saw. Seems like a great place to me.
