Myself, and apparently a few more on my facebook feed.

This would be a great project for art works

Yeah, I know Tamara and we're talking. Lots of good energy around this project.

I like this, but I wish we could come up with more unique things, rather than copying coastal cities.

"Good artists borrow, great artists steal" -Pablo Picasso, then Bill Gates, then Shepherd Fairey, then Banksey...

I've always been more partial to this, as far as stair street art goes:

I dunno if a sad looking old woman is a good fit for Cincinnati...

Maybe instead of focusing on the stairs themselves, we could do decorative handrails that brighten the stairs up and make them uniquely Cincinnati. The stairs might be painted a solid color or something, if not left as they are.

JR is the artist that did that.  I'm not suggesting they use the same picture for Cincinnati, or even a portrait at all: just something that is a bit more unique than a mosaic.  Anyone could do it really, get together a small group of people, pick a stair, show up one night and clean it, wheat paste something on it, and call it a night.

Cincinnati has a lot of steps and could do all sorts of cool things. I like the colorful mosaics. And San Francisco isn't the first city (this was just a really pretty picture). There are a number of European and South American cities that I know of with tiled steps.

and FWIW, I have no qualms about copying great ideas - coastal or otherwise...in fact, I think there's a lot of good ideas in Pittsburgh that could be implemented here.

something uniquely Cincinnati would be an incline haha

and bike troughs or maybe a bike lift (

)

Do it.

Holy crap that cycle lift thing is awesome. It looks uncomfortable, though. I really wanna try it!

Don't know if anyone has ever actually created a real mosaic before, but I have. It takes.... FOREVER. No really. FOREVER. Creating a design is one thing, but cutting each piece and gluing them to sheets is another. Guess it would depend on the size of pieces you're working with. A whole set of steps would certainly be a group effort.

Yes, this would be a group effort for sure and would likely take months. I'm meeting with ArtWorks and others about this project soon.
