August 16, 200717 yr ^Read up and see why some prefer Latino (or other terms): http://www.soaw.org/article.php?id=830 Obviously that doesn't apply to you per se, but I know plenty of people who bristle at being called "Hispanic". clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

August 17, 200717 yr I moved to the NW side of Warren. I can't believe there are no Puerto Rican restaurants around here! I guess I better start cooking... lol! you see what happens when you leave lorain homegirl?!! hey i have a question, sorry it wont help you now, but i saw a new pr restaurant on broadway last month when i visited, maybe you know that one? did you get to check it out? Are you talking about El Coqui? I haven't been there. Everytime I drive by it was closed and when it was opened, there was hardly anyone inside- not a good sign. I always preferred Rainbows on Pearl Ave, on the Southside of Lorain. I was in Lorain yesterday and we went to El Kefon, the new buffet they opened on the Eastside. It was pretty good, but didn't care too much for the rice. It tasted old and burnt. I wonder if Akron has any Puerto Rican restaurants. And about leaving Lorain, I'll give up the P.R. restaurants to get out of there! Lived there my whole life and I couldn't wait to leave. There is nothing to do and it just keeps getting worse and worse. I have two children also, and the city schools are terrible. Especially now that they laid off about 250 teachers and will not have art, gym, or music class in the elementary schools. They are even talking about making the school day an hour shorter. Yet, they have money to build three new schools. Hopefully life is better here in Warren, if not, next move is to Puerto Rico!

Now if they would just build a Puerto Rican restaurant.........

I work for the architecture firm that is building the new Willard PK-8. We are also trying to save the center auditorium of the old Warren HS. (the current superintendant isn't keen on the idea) No Puerto Rican restaurants in the area... it sounds like a business opportunity to me.
August 31, 200717 yr Right now they are going to Western Reserve Middle School until the new Parkman School is built. I have one child in 4th and the other in 7th. I heard about the auditorium, I thought they was saving it. The old high school is beautiful. My husband has talked about getting his aunts to move here from Puerto Rico to open a restaurant, they can help me cook! Sounds like a good idea... Warren City now, was in Lorain City. September 18, 200717 yr I found a restuarant that makes Puerto Rican food, finally!! It is called Papa's and it is located in Boardman. The address is 980 Mathews Rd, right off of South Ave. They are more known for their New York style pizza, but they make all kinds of Puerto Rican food. Their pastellios are really good.
September 18, 200717 yr nice score dawn. i was wondering if you were going to have any luck. btw my mom went to castillo grande again recently and said yes of course its mexican so i dk what i was thinking. they own another place in the old sheffield center too. however, she said she still likes el patio in south lorain better for mexican. oh boy -- all this latino chow -- now i know what i am having for dinner tonight!
July 19, 201212 yr :wtf: The Mahoning Valley needs a restaurant topic of it's own. What do you think? I'll start a topic. What happened to the three Rotelli Grills? I heard one was a Chipotle? A sports bar,Jerimira Bulfrog,(Antone's operators), was going into the farther out Giant Eagle-Liberty plaza? The owners themselves, said this on a AM morning show on TV. I thought Rotelli was doing good. There already is a long time Antone's, a few miles down the street, in front of the new Walmart. Do they need both? The Giant Eagle location is not that big. Sports bar people are different than a nice restaurant atmosphere, aren't they?
February 17, 201312 yr I'm a Trumbull County girl, so I've never been to a Rotelli's, although I remember the one being in the Panera plaza in Atown. I have been to Jeramiah Bullfrogs once, but I would love to have a Winking Lizard.
February 18, 201312 yr  Since my post in July, Antone's has closed the store in-front of the Liberty Plaza-Walmart. I have seen the new location in the former Rotellie's. The parking lot seems to be busy whenever I've seen it. Good luck to Antone's.

The restaurant is on state Route 46 just north of the East Market Street intersection, in the building previously occupied by Sunrise Inn Express. November 1, 20231 yr New Coffee Shop on the West Side https://businessjournaldaily.com/muralists-paint-a-pleasant-picture-for-youngstown-coffee-shop/ A new coffee shop is opening up on Mahoning Avenue in the Garden District on the West Side! They did a really beautiful job on rehabing this building and the new mural really adds a lot as well! They also are redoing the building next door for their roasting facilities. Once this coffee shop opens up, there'll actually be a pretty nice strip of businesses on this part of Mahoning Avenue along with Casa Ramirez, Little Lou's Puerto Rican, and Hackett's Pub. Obviously the West Side has a long way to go before it could be considered a truly nice walkable neighborhood, but it is slowly making improvements and the bones are still there for it to become a neighborhood similar to Highland Square in Akron or something.
