Posted August 3, 201212 yr Could we please stop using airport codes or could someone post a list of them here? I get halfway through some posts before I have any idea what a particular code means. Its the same thing in a lot of threads. Now, I understand that many on here DO know seemingly every airport code in the country, but not all of us are so lucky. I personally only know a couple (CVG, CLE, CMH, IND, LGA), but people are using them for smaller airports like Akron, the Blue Ash Airport, etc. Thanks & /rant. :-) [p.s. I'm going to post this in the Cincinnati streetcar thread as well.]
August 3, 201212 yr I don't mind it when referring to airports, but when used to refer to cities it is annoying and pretentious. I kind of agree about the smaller airports. I didn't know what ISZ was either but it was easy to tell based on context.

If it's in a thread about Akron or Canton (or something going on there), calling the airport CAK is appropriate; most everyone commenting in that thread understands the meaning or can figure it out from context. However if we're in a more general thread, I'll agree that it's annoying. For the record, I just googled what CVG and CMH were as I always get them mixed up.
August 3, 201212 yr C incinnati V ery G ood. I always like PHX and LAX. The X's make them sound sexy. ;-)
August 3, 201212 yr I believe CVG is more for CoVinGton.. but I could be wrong. :-) Yeah, that's what I always think. Not that it's in Covington, either, though. Weirdness. At least Union Terminal is CIN.

At least Union Terminal is CIN. Cincinnati's airport, located in Kentucky, called CVG after Covington, and operated by the Kenton County Airport Board even though it's in Boone County.

The airport is also much closer to Cincinnati than Covington anyway, due to Cincinnati's city limits snaking along the Ohio River and US-50.
