January 11, 20205 yr I love this picture of Downtown Painesville--ca.1950. This actually predates even me! I remember the Standard Drug store though. And I'm pretty sure that's 1950's Italian film star Anna Magnani on the right lol. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

This is a still from a video from last year that I don't think still exists (a person doing a bunch of great skateboarding videos had her account hacked and apparently hasn't recovered anything), but this is virtually the exact spot of the original picture (terrible quality, I know), but at a slightly different angle. The building housing the drug store burned down in 1996, due to a bunch of ne'er-do-wells in an apartment on the second floor who "accidentally" set it on fire (second pic below). The building on the left is now Key Bank (built 50 years ago as Cleveland Trust) and replaced the historic mansard-roofed structure in the distance (upper left of young man's head, who, if still alive would probably be in his mid-eighties, but I think he's holding a cigarette so that might be unlikely), but the entire block to its left was demolished. I know, too much information. ? http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
