August 19, 201212 yr Somebody's taking some serious time off! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
August 21, 201212 yr Des Moines has an impressive downtown skyscraper collection for a city that isn't all that big. I just got done reading "The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid", Bill Bryson's memoir of growing up in Des Moines in the 50's. Good stuff, but hard to put together with what's there now.
September 20, 201212 yr Great pictures, Summit Street. You seem to get around as many cities as I do. Are some of the last pictures switched from Des Moines to Kansas City? There's what looks suspiciously like Kansas City Union Station. Is it? I also loved your Albany NY photos. Coincidentally, I recently visited Albany as well. Check out my photos at www.picasaweb.google.com/miklospogonyi I'm guessing you are from Toledo, OH, hence "Summit Street"?
September 20, 201212 yr Are some of the last pictures switched from Des Moines to Kansas City? There's what looks suspiciously like Kansas City Union Station. Is it? Yes. Pretty much everything after the point where I wrote 'Also, Kansas City' is Kansas City. I'm guessing you are from Toledo, OH, hence "Summit Street"? There are many cities in Ohio with a street named Summit. I have been in Toledo, so technically I have come from Toledo , but not in the way you are probably thinking.
September 21, 201212 yr Well Des Moines looks like it has at least triple the old buildings Charlotte, NC has.
September 28, 201212 yr Am I mistaken, or did a night shot of LA make it into that collection (the last pic)? I was in Des Moines a couple years ago. I liked it and the suburbs, but I was shocked at how many sky bridges they had between buildings. There were no bodies on the streets at all!
September 30, 201212 yr Well Des Moines looks like it has at least triple the old buildings Charlotte, NC has. It does. Des Moines has a good downtown for a city its size, but the neighborhoods leave a lot to be desired. Still, Des Moines > Charlotte. I really want to see Kansas City. It looks like it has an incredible downtown.
September 30, 201212 yr I lived in KC for one year in the 90s, it was really, really dead. Not just downtown but the area between it and Westport and then the various warehouse areas near the rail yards. I haven't been back since I think 1998 and I hear there have been all kinds of improvements. Why is it that seemingly every state has a better capitol building than Ohio?
